Q: Question About Feeding

My little girl is a month and 3 days old. She is eating about 3-4 oz. and I was wondering if its ok to try and fed her every 4 hours. I have been feeding her every 3 hours, but its kind if nice to have a longer break in between feedings. The last 2 nights she has eaten at 2:00 am and slept until 6:30/7:00 am!! Its been GREAT!!! Im hoping this becomes a normal routine for a while until she actually starts sleeping through the night. Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

I would say feed her when she is hungry and acts like she wants it, but if she isn't crying for a bottle you should be ok to let her go 4 hours as long as she has plenty of wet/soiled diapers she's good to go.

I have two children and I have always believed that babies will let you know when they are hungry. If she is starting to sleep that much at night then definitely let her sleep. If she can hold out until the four hour mark she may actually eat a little more than 3-4 oz. at each feed. But you may notice that there may be times when she goes through a little growth spurt and she may want to eat more frequently. A lot of women believe in keeping their babies on a strict schedule and that may be fine for them but to me if my baby is crying and you can tell that she wants to eat I will definitely feed her, whether it be 2 or 3 hrs after her last feed. So good luck to you and hopefully she continues to sleep that much at night for you.......it definitely makes for a much happier mommy...lol And if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

I agree with shannah. Blaze (at that age) only got fed every 4 hours. its no big deal. Babies will eat when they wont to, and they'll let you know.

You can feed her every 4 hours if that's what she wants: feed her when she is hungry is the rule. But if she is crying and hungry, don't make her wait or you will end up with more problems. You will have to see if she is gaining weight well too in the long run.
