Hi everyone,

I had knee surgery for a mensicus tear two months ago. The surgery went well and I was told that I would be able to get back into sport within a month. It's been two and I am still in a lot of pain.

The right one (injured) is still feeling weak and in pain a lot of the time. The right side of it is painful to touch and feels like it 'buzzes' or something moves when I run. The left side of the right knee is sore, but doesnt really effect me too much.

The left one, which was my good one has also acted up. It can be very painful and just the entire feeling of weakness. I am unsure how to approach this. For the entire time I was waiting for surgery on my right knee I continued PE and sport with a brace and mostly hopping around. I am kinda worried I did damage to my left one. The other week in PE, I jumped and landed weirdly on the left one, it kinda shot with pain and was slightly swollen afterwards but was still ok to continue the rest of the day. It also clicks as I am getting up from a squatting position. It is painful along the inside of the knee and the back of it.

I am really confused and annoyed at this point. Being in constant pain has not only been a resultin stopping hard physical activities but it also has caused depression, and shakes. I just dont know what to do anymore. I have lyme disease as well, but that hasnt bothered me in six years, but is it possible that it could be returning?

Thank you in advance,
Meg

Not sure about the symptoms of lyme disease...

But yes, you can injure one knee while compensating for an injury on the other. Invasive surgery didn't help my menisucus tear, it made it worse!

Can you see a physical therapist? What does your orthopedist say?

The thereapist said that if the left one continues the way it does, then she will refer me back to the specialist. She believes the pain in the right knee is normal post-op, but it just doesnt feel right. I have the pictures from the surgery, if anyone wants to see those?

Hello Meg,

Don't rush things, I had been told that meniscus therapy went much longer than a month especially if you're an active person, although I'm sure your doctor knows more than I do. I wouldn't get too worked up just yet, just keep doing your therapy work outs! Getting more muscle will help stabalize too. And now that the "good knee" is a little weak it couldn't hurt to do the workouts on both legs.

I'm not sure about lymes disease either. I'd double check your concerns with a doctor.

Don't lose hope! You're still at an important part of recovery! Good luck! And feel free to pm if you need anything. Since my knee surgery I've done a lot of research Smile

Think I pushed the limit today. Did six hours of leading horses around for kids, one of the larger horses pushed me and I went down a little hill thing like one step and as I came down my left knee made a horrible snapping noice. It's very sore now, but I was able to continue with my work.
Any more ideas?
Meg
