Ibuprophen is ok as long as you drink a lot of water and take it with food. I have taken flexeril for the tmd which helped. what are your symptoms? have you tried heat and ice? and what treatments have you had? since you have face aches i have a suggestion for you--pm me and we can talk about it. Smile

Amitriptyline?
Hi, I have had horrible problems from this med. not so much dry mouth, but maybe in the beginning i did notice that about it. then i started getting alot of side effects on it, tried to go off it and almost collasped. But the only thing i liked about it, was it did dull the pain, like the nerve pain in my cheeks. Now i am on a tiny dose. but listen be careful coming oFF it if you decide to..... i asked the pharmacist and he said it was bad news... so if you come off it, make sure your doctor knows. please??? i got very sick. and i reduced it like sort of slowly too. just be careful.cindy

Amiltryptiline And Tmj
well been off the amiltryp for nearly a week ( last wednesday) , jaw joint aches etc have returned , had my first migraine in a few years last frid/sat. hmmmm now wat , i was given 2 choices amiltryp or my teeth ( cos of the dry mouth the risk of acid attackin teeth is higher the dentist tells me ) .

You Going to Go Back On It?
Are you going to go back on it? or try something else? if it helps you why not go back on it then? only way to tell is experiment. i do know another lady who loves it, because as long as she is on it, she doesnt get a migraine. the only thing i like about it, is that it lets you get a good night sleep. i wish there was a good medicine that totally worked, dont you? love cindy

Yea Amitriptyline.
yea i have been thinking about it since last night. Anyway i never did get off it, then when i tried to, i got really sick. i had been decreasing it for a month, and still got sick. so sick that i almost fainted at the chiro's... so i had my boyfriend run in and talk to the pharmacist.... he said it was bad news. but what i wanted to post was this....coming off it i had terrible panic, sweats, flu like with chills, and headaches too. i wanted to mention that.anyway i went back on it, at a very low dose, and my goal is to get off it eventually.i'm on 12 mgs which isnt much. but i still believe the junk messes up my vision. cindy

you know sometimes the med causes more problems than what you are taking it for. and getting off it causes even more problems--i dont take anything.

thats what meds are for--to cover up pain so that you can function.

oh and please be careful of giving people false hope. nmd does not work for everyone. there is no "cure" for tmd. there are solutions but no cure. a cure would be one thing that works for everyone. however that doesnt exist. i have come here and found people that dont have success with it. i needed further help as well--ive been using nmd for 3 years.

I am taking 10 mg of it for migraines..so far it has STOPPED them. The only side effect so far is dry mouth. I am thinking of getting on more of it as I THINK it helps my panic attacks too a bit but some of these stories scare me off. I will continue on 10 mg it has stopped my optic migraines....LOVE IT...so far

I'm on 25mg of Amitryptilyne. I had a few side effects at first (dry mouth, couldn't wake up in the morning, disorientation), but they've pretty much gone away now. I have found success with this treatment, however it does struggle big time when I'm dealing with more stress than is my norm.
After reading these posts though I'm a little worried about what's going to happen when I'm ready to come off it.
For the dry mouth, I just kept a bottle of water with me and took regular sips to keep myself hydrated.

Can anyone give me more details about their illness when coming off the medication?

Thanks.
