Birth Control Mahem Posted: 10-15-07 23:04pm
I
need help like crazy on this. . . before
my period me and my boyfriend had
unprotected sex and I was feeling really
funny right before my period with nausea
and breast tenderness and was worried I
might be pregnant, well I took one of
those tests that can tell you 5 days
before your missed period if you are the
day before it came up negative and then
the next day my period came, so I started
on my birth control. This is the first
time I have ever in my life used birth
control and I didn't feel any different at
first. Well at the end of my period I
noticed I was still spotting, which is
very odd for me I hardly ever spot, well I
spotted for about 2 days , it was very
brownish red color and scared me and my
boyfriend so I stopped taking the pills to
see if it would stop, well it stopped last
night and today me and my boyfriend had
sex, I was fine all the way thru sex and
several hours afterwords, then all of a
sudden when I went to the bathroom, I was
spotting again but it was bright red. So I
guess what I'm asking is, is that normal
is birth control suppose to do that, could
I by some odd chance have been pregnant
and messed something up. Any advice would
be VERY VERY much appreciated right now
thanks

Well I don't think you were pregnant,
because you got your period.
Spotting is extremely common on birth
control. Brown is a very normal color for
old blood and bcp blood to be! You should
not have stopped the pills. Pills do not
harm embryos once you are already
pregnant, so if you were they would not
have harmed it.
You could be pregnant now
though, because you had unprotected sex
after no longer being on the pills.

You SHOULD have stayed on the pills, even
though you were spotting.
BC causes spotting and unusual bleeding
during the first month or two, so you have
to ride it out.
You are ONLY protected when you take the
pill, you and your B/F had unprotected sex
when you did not take pills, so you are at
risk.
