And as long as you are comfortable with a
98-99% effectiveness rate, you do not need
condoms. (I'm fine with that, how bout
you?)

If you did not start within a few days of
the first day of your period, then you
were not safe the first week of pills.

Right- the first week (when you take the
pills for the very first time ever) you
need extra protection. Every day from then
until eternity you are safe.

It doesn't matter (I think). If this
incident happened on the placebo week you
are still protected. If this incident
happened BEFORE you started pills then you
could be pregnant.

I have taught an adult ed. class for the
past 7 years. Every semester we have a
birth control presentation from a local
clinic. The idea behind birth control
pills is that a certain level of hormone
must be present in a female's body in
order to prevent ovulation. No egg to
meet the sperm....no pregnancy. My
understanding is that one must take the
pills for one full cycle (3 weeks of
active pills ) in order to bring the
hormone level up high enough to stop
ovulation. The week of placebo pills
allows menstruation to occur. At this
point, ovulation won't occur as long as
you keep repeating the 3 weeks on hormones
(active pills) and 1 week on placebo pills
(no hormone). If you miss an active pill,
within the 3 week cycle, you risk the
hormone level decreasing to the point
where ovulation might be able to occur.
It is best to take the b.c. pills at the
same time EVERY SINGLE DAY to avoid
pregnancy. Birth control pills do not
protect against sexually transmitted
diseases.
I AM NOT A MEDICAL AUTHORITY. My job has
simply exposed me to many presentations on
birth control. Is there a reason you
would not ask your doctor these
questions?????
