Is it possible to spoil a baby? I been ttc for almost a year and everybody(mainly parents) I meet tell me not to hold the baby too much or you'll spoil it. If holding the baby while it cries is considered "spoiling it" my children will be very spoiled! How do you all feel about this? Is there a such thing as a "spoiled newborn?" I personally don't think that it is.

No. These are old wives tales. You cannot 'spoil' a newborn with affection. You can, however, train them to want to be held constantly Smile That isn't always a bad thing Smile

nope its not spoiling them
however eventually hey will want you to hold them constantly and once they get used to being held all the time no matter what its going to be hard to break that habit
for both you and the baby!!!

Babies love human contact and who better to give that to them than their parents. Hold them and spoil them while they enjoy it. There will be a day that they won't want to be cuddled and held anymore.
I would rather hold my baby while he cries or to keep him from crying than let him cry or worse, not cry because nobody comes when he does. Sad

you cannot spoil a newborn. They begin to develop habits at 4-6 months and thats when they begin to notice cause and effect for their actions. You should begin routines at around that time.
