I have a dilemma at the moment. I don't really know what to do. As you know I am trying for a baby with Robbie but as I am a worry wart, I am worrying about surnames. Layla and Logan have my surname. I kept my own surname whilst married to Neil.

However, I would like to marry Robbie and take his surname. This would mean having a different surname to the babies which I am not keen on. Also our new baby would have Robbie's surname too. To me, it just seems horrible that the kids would have different surnames from their mum and sibling. It would be like they are seperate and may cause confusion/jealousy.

As the law stands in the UK, I could not officially change their name on the birth certifcate unless it was that of their biological Dad's. If I wanted to change their name it would have to be by Deed Poll and I would need neil's permission. He would NEVER allow it.

Right now I cannot see a way around it. Robbie's surname is important to him as both his parents are dead and he is the last desedant. Therefore it also important to him that his baby has his surname.

I don't know what to do. Any advice?

Would he be open to having both of your surnames, only hyphenated? Some people find this is easiest since it is the best of both sides. The baby carries on the name of the father and the other children will still feel connected as well.
