His seizures are under control by medication but he his suffering from mood swings, anxiety, frustration and anger. He may react strongly and unpredictably to events, which would not previously have troubled him. He becomes obsessional in their thoughts and actions especially if they are disturbed by their cognitive and personality changes there is a fear that he is 'going mad'. He is in india right now. Epilepsy- Partial Seizures
Hi:
my 6 years old daughter has partial seizures for two and half years now. It started as eye-shrinking and eye-closing and then increase by movement of her hands. She has tried a number of medications such as tegretol, sodium volporate, primidone, lamictal, neurontin, topomax, clonazepam and non of them was able to stop seizures completely. Although the combination of topomax and primidone has stopped her hand movements and she is steel taking them. Lamictal seemed to have good effect on her but she was highly allergic to it. Her mri shows nothing and her physical growth is normal other than being lean. She was a very smart and fast learning kid before her seizures started. But now she cannot concentrate and she is falling behind in the learning process.

Side Effects
Hi,
it sounds to me like your brother is suffering side effects of the medication(s) he is on. I am going to be switched to keppra in the near future which has a long list of side effects like what you're describing of your brother. I spoke with my dr about my concerns surrounding this type of behavior related to the drug and I was told that if that behavior developed that my medications would be adjusted to ones that controlled my seizures but did not affect my day to day life.
I suggest you get in touch with your dr right away as what he is experiencing does not sound healthy nor what should be happening.
Good luck!

Hi neti

what medication is your bother on? My neurologist wanted to put me on keppra but when I read about it and reaserched on the internet, I came across other people who's family members were taking keppra and they were concerned about the side effects it was having on their family members because they had noticed such a personality change - bad mood swings and bursts of anger like you say your brother has. Maybe he isn't on keppra but all medications have side effects - some people don't suffer whilst others do. I think you you should speak to him and suggest he speaks to his gp that maybe the medication is having side effects and it can be sorted out.
