Q: Diagnosed With Hsv 2 - My Man Is Horrified

I have been dating my man for about a year now and having a wonderful time. I had been with my ex husband for 8 years and we got a divorce due to his cheating. Well my man and I have been having unprotected sex and I was just diagnosed with herpes. My man has no symptoms and I didn't have any either. I went in on a routine pap and blood test.

He is really shakened up and he told me that he needs some time and space. Does this really mean that he wants to let our relationship go or if he really needs time to get his thoughts together. The doctor told him that give it up to three weeks to see if he has contracted this horrible virus.

I am on pins and needles. I'm figuring that if he has it then he may consider our relationship a keeper since we were doing perfectly well until the news or if he doesn't have it then he's going to throw me to do the dogs and to hell with me. I'm so nervous and scared of what his outcome will be. I had no idea about this virus inside of me. I was surprised just as well as he was. He has totally shut me out. He won't call me or come by. It's like he's blaming me for this thing. I don't want to lose him - he's my everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there anything else that we can do to come to some kind of solution (every moment I pray about our situation)! Guys please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there hope for us!!!!
Crying or Very sad

thanks

Ultimately if he loves you he is not going to throw away your relationship. But at the same time this news does not make him happy, same as you. The difference is, if he has not yet contracted it, then he has the choice, you dont. If your relationship is worth saving, then he will stay with you and you two will just have to use protection. But, I would give him his time to collect his thoughts.

Herpes is "just" a cold sore. But then again cold sores can be worse than you might think. Read up:

It is a "cold sore" if it is oral. Otherwise, it is a different type. And I am sure that it is a lot more painful and annoying in the private area. Anyway, make sure you use protection. It is not fair to pass it to someone else, and if you do not have it, then I am sure that you do not want it! Whether or not it is "just" a cold sore.
