Okay... I am 17 years old... 5'7 and I weigh 220!.. Embarassed . AGH!!!
I have tried since I was 13 to lose weight and nothing seems to work.
What's worse is I really don't think I should be this weight.
I don't eat alot... what I do eat is mostly healthy...
I don't know what to do!!?!??
I have tried a bunch of different diets and pills and what not but nothin works. I always end up gaining weight. My dad thinks something might be wrong with my thyroid.
Anyway, any suggestions on healthy ways to lose weight that actually work!?
I'm sure i've tried everything!
I am desperate! Please!
I am very self concious and I have never been comfortable with my body. Especially around my boyfriend. He's 18, 6'1 and only 150! And I hate weighing more than him because the girl is supposed to be smaller!
Anyway, I'm kind of just venting now.
If you have any ways of losing weight in a healthy way that actually works please let me know... or any suggestions or anything... please!

Count calories. There are hundreds of calorie counting websites online. You can find how many calories you should be eating and then stick within those parameters.

Essentially, all 'diets' are is calorie restricting ~ and you can do that on your own without forbidding yourself anything. Just be consistent! Like, if your plan is to eat 1,200 calories a day (which doesn't translate into a lot of food if you aren't careful about what you eat), you could eat ONE single meal at McDonalds - or you could eat yogurt, fresh fruit, skim milk, lean meat and tons of veggies.

You can't look at a diet as a diet and you go on and off of them. Adopt practical eating habits - like staying away from sugar or eating it sparingly - and you'll lose weight. Maybe not a TON of weight every week like on Biggest Loser, but you will lose weight.

I know this is long and I don't care. :P Hear me out!
Hey, I don't think this has to do with eating healthily. If you say you are eating well, that might not even be the case. I know this one girl who has always been overweight and regularly sees the nutritionist. She just recently leveled off her genetically (!!!) high cholesterol to a normal level but that took her like 3 years. I know someone who had a great bod and flared up because of a rare and incurable thyroid problem. I know someone who was naturally skinny and underweight and forced by her parents to take weight-gain medication to release hormones, which messed up other hormones. Now, she doesn't have that body anymore.

For me, eating a little bit everyday makes me hungry, but I do that in the effort to limit my calories. Try to follow up that regime, at least not to allow yourself to gain more. Keep in mind that when you eat too little though, your body will consume muscle (which is made to remove excess weight) to take in energy. Then when you eat, your body will try to make you eat more to recompense for the low level of energy you hard before, therefore making you gain weight. And for me, whenever my mind tries to make me eat more, I try to focus on eating slowly and going against what my mind wants to say. (It works for me but I don't know about anyone else)

Here are some tricks:
1. Your stomach is approximately the size of your fist so eat that much food at each meal.
2. Don't eat at big chunks three times a day. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Break it up into little snacks throughout the day. Eat every 4-5 hours. (Unless you have diabetes, in which you MUST eat every 2 hours. Otherwise you'll die. Sad )
3. When you exercise, make sure you exercise the whole body, not only one area. Exercising the whole body will more efficiently remove excess. (I'm trying not to refer to it as fat. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings XO ) Also make sure you sweat, since sweat will remove toxins and improve mood, weight, and overall health.

I think that in your case, it's either genetic, thyroidal, hormonal, or etc...

Try the doctor. Take in a visit and see what is truly the problem. There are people gifted with curvaceous figures. But there are also people gifted with a strong mind. Be one with a strong mind. If you can accept yourself for who you are, that's strong. If you want to get rid of your problem, focus your strength in it. If you believe in something and put your faith in it, you are going to win.

Good luck!!! It will be hard but if you go up against your problems and fears and beat them down, then you can truly be proud of yourself! Very Happy

I recommend the first thing you do is get your thyroid gland checked, because any weight loss advice won't quite work effectively, if not at all, if your thyroid gland isn't functioning like it should be.

After a check up with the doctor, you should begin the appropriate dieting. As the above poster mentioned, you should have smaller portion and more frequent meals throughout the day. Instead of the typical 3, you should consider eating maybe 5-7 smaller meals distributed throughout the day. Additionally, you should limit the amount of carbohydrates and fats from calories that you intake. Fats, I'm sure you already know you should bring that to a minimum, carbohydrates, particularly simple sugars from dairy products, fruits, etc, should not be consumed in large amounts. While your entire overall carbohydrate intake should be brought down, you should make a good portion of the carbohydrates that you do consume, come from complex carbohydrates.

From what it seems, you don't exercise? I recommend 30 minutes of cardiovascular activity every day, or most every day per week. This is recommended whether or not you are overweight, or skinny, or anything else, but doing so will help you lose weight.

You need determination and be willing to sacrifice in order to achieve this. Most people find it hard to fit in exercise per day, but they don't consider how much time they spend in a day idling. Good luck, let us know about your progress.

Easy Way to Lose Weight
If you want to lose water weight, then you can do it very quickly through a very special dieting technique is Water Diet. When you start drinking enough water regularly, there are great benefits. Many people find their energy is increased and constipation and headaches are reduced, as well as hunger pains.

Here are some tips to follow, when you decide to lose weight based on a "water diet":

When you wake up you would often be thirsty because your body loses water while you are sleeping through breathing and perspiration. Drink one or two large glasses of water. Drink another glass of water with breakfast or a cup of herbal tea before setting off the day.

Have a glass of water or two before lunch. You can add some fruit or a vegetable.

Lunch : think of soup or have a glass of water before your meal, or perhaps a herbal tea.

Afternoon : While you are preparing your evening meal, drink a glass of water and snack on some crunchy fresh vegetables.

Evening : Sip a glass of water before your meal with a dash of your favourite fruit juice for flavour.

After dinner : before bedtime drink your final glass of water and sleep well! .
