being diagnosed with schizophrenia ive been told that what i see and hear isnt real...but what if its all real? what if what i have is a power instead of an illness? i mean ive been through almost every antipsychotic known to man to no avail. i mean maybe all of us have some inherent ability that has been labled schizophrenia....just a thought

i have the same delusions, that we cant really trust anything to be "real". reality is whatever the person whos viewing it chooses to see, hear, touch, smell and think. the problem is for the most part "normal" people all live on the same plane of existence, automatically making the schizophrenic existence to be the psychotic one.. but this is unfortunatly a question that will never get answered, because no one knows just how far the human mind can go.

You'll know it's a sickness if it hits you as hard as it hit me.

I don't know a whole lot about this illness, but I do know the things that some people with this condition experience imaginary things just as we do real things.

However, I do know that some people are gifted and that they do see things that others don't and those things are real as well: spiritual things that are invisible to most people, but nevertheless actually there to people who have been given this gift. I'm very skeptical about this, even though I believe in a spiritual word, and I know a person who actually does see things: I know she's not a liar.

It is really hard to know where medicine stops and where faith and the supernatural begin.

I believe that if you "really" see supernatural things, then it's still in your head. Basically you believe so much in those things that you've made your brain conform to those ideas and it starts generating images and sensations.

There's no doubt people w/ schizophrenia et al actually see, hear, and experience these delusions and hallucinations so there is legitimacy to them.

It's a disease, like cancer, or diabetes; not a visit from the spiritual realm.

Hi hun,

You're questioning this because it's all part of your illness. It's most definately not real. unfortunately it's all these voices that seem incredibly real to you but it's not part of the real world. So if something scares you just keep telling yourself "this isn't real". I was diagnosed with a form of psychosis about 6 yrs ago. I don't have it anymore but i know how it is. I used to meditate and it really helped me. I used to do white light meditation. you could look it up on the net. It may help you.

Take care hun,

Harmony1 xoxo

I have had the same thought. but i don't think that it is really true, except maybe for the telepathy, and even my psychiatrist says it is possible. Heh maybe he is just trying to sound open minded to keep me as a patient so I won't go off the deep end totally.

or maybe it is real. If it is real then medication, eating right, sleeping enough, and abstaining from drug use could not effect it. But I am not really sure how thinking my dad is a pimp trying to turn me into a prostitute is really a power on my part. I no longer think that though, so I am feeling a little better.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!
It's not real and if you're ever in doubt just log on to ehealth and email me. I've been where you are and sometimes just having someone to reassure you can make all the difference in the world.

That goes for anyone else too.

Some people are very wrongly told that they have Schizophrenia and medicine can do more bad than good in these cases and some people are told they have a spirit with them and in some cases his can be incorrect

My personal recommendation is that you see a priest that is Christian or Muslim-that is the only religions i know that deal with this ask them you might have a spirit of some some sort which they can get rid

Muslim priests usually do not charge if you send me a private message i can get you a contact number
