Anyone else out there with PCOS? How long have you lived with it? How has it affected you? Do you have the coarser hair on your belly or other body parts? Has it affected your fertility? Has it affected moods?
Any discussion is helpful.
Thanks

I have PCOS. I am 25 and have had it pretty much since I started with periods. Well, I didnt realize anything was wrong when I was a teen. I was just told I was lucky to not have periods every month. I would have maybe 3 periods per year. I started BC pills at about 14 to control the periods. I also have PCOS so I cant always tell where one ends and one begins... I do know I get multiple cyst. ANd they hurt like hell when they pop. I have even had a few drained. I have hair that grows on my face and my upper chest. I even have "sideburns". I know we tried for kids for 4 yrs. I did have a gastric bypass about 3 yrs ago and that somewhat kickstarted my cycle. Since the weight come off I had pretty much regular cycles. I now have 2 sets of twins also and I truly believe it is because of the PCOS. Somehow I just released more than 1 egg every cycle. I know some of the BC pills I have been on have REALLY effected my moods. Some of the pills with higher doses of hormone make me really moody and irratible. I dont think the PCOS really causes moodswings itself though. I would be happy to try to answer any other questions you may have.

Living with PCOS
I'm 21 years old and I was diagnosed with PCOS a month ago. I went to the doctor thinking I was pregnant because I hadn't had my period in over 4 months. They gave me the urine and blood pregnancy tests and they both showed to be negative (I pretty much figured it would be). So, a gyno visit and another blood test later... the result was in, I have PCOS. They gave me some hormone pills that I took for 10 days, and about 2 weeks after I was finished taking them I started my period (this actually happened yesterday). So, I'm not sure about how my periods are going to be after this one but hopefully they will be back on track. This is also the first time I've ever missed a cycle. But I have had a problem with abnormal hair growth since I was about 13. I started growing an excessive amount of thick, dark hair on my neck and chin and I tried the laser hair removal when it became popular. This didn't work at all, just wasted a ridiculous amount of money and left me hopeless. I started having to shave my face when I was about 15, and now I have to shave it at least 2 times a day. It is EXTREMELY embarrassing for me to even sleep in the same bed with someone, because I know that when I wake up in the morning I will probably have stubble on my neck/chin and will have to race to the bathroom to shave it off before they notice. Having PCOS has really taken a toll on my self confidence. I was 125 lbs when I graduated high school, and now I'm about 170 and it's not due to poor eating habits or lack of exercise. On top of PCOS I was also diagnosed with HPV about 7 months ago. From what I've read about the two of these, I probably have a pretty low chance of being able to ever get pregnant. I hope I'm wrong. I hope this answered some of your questions about it. Feel free to ask me anything else that you would like to know.
