Get to Know Me (a Little About Myself) Posted: 10-11-07 10:21am
First of all, no I am not a physcian. I am
a retired health care worker (in all
fields including mental health) as a
mental health tech. I spent 15 out of my
23 years working as Special Care Tech in
Medical/Surgical, ICU, CCU and
Orthopedics. I spent 4 years working in
the mental health care field. I also
attended Emergency Medical Technician and
worked for a volunteer Fire Deptartment
for almost 5 years after my working hours.
Yes, that was my life and I was one tired
lady but I was doing what I loved to do.
For the past 12 years or so, I have been
getting sicker and sicker untill finally
last Dec (06) I was rushed to the ER only
10 min from death. Was on the ventalator
for 10 out of 16 days in CCU.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Got a few years
under my belt working as medical assistant
in family practice,opthalmology and GYN.
I will say this much. When I worked mental
health, we each had about 5 patients to
evaluate. I always said at the end of each
session (to myself) "If there was one word
that I said to that one patient during an
hour long session that hit home to that
patient, then I did my job"
I have the following illnesses:
Hypertension
Hypothyroid (induced)
COPD
Asthma
Multiple sclorosis- in the process of
getting a second opinion.
Panic
deppression
Anxiety
Brain hemorage back in 03
MRSA (you can look that up) after an
appendectomy in the incsion back in 04.
So, this is me. I had to leave the field
due to stress, overwork and illness. Not
fun being on this side of the fence. But,
one thing is. If there is anyone out there
that I am able to help through an ordeal,
I am here for you.
I am one of you and not just a
knowledgable member.
