Q: Help! On the Pill - Could I Be Pregnant, Though?

I have been on The Pill (OT-Lo) for just about 2 years now. Once in a great while (if I had to count, I'd say 3-4 times) my period would start late or early, depending if I'd have sex close to the time it was supposed to start.

This past month, I haven't missed any pills. I have taken a few about an hour or two (three MAX) late, but I've never went a full 24 hours without taking a pill.

My boyfriend and I were fighting a lot for about 2 weeks. It really affected me because I have a tendency to over-react to small things. Also, I'm a full-time college student with a part-time job. School and work have never affected my period, but I'm also in a monetary bind. I'm wondering if the stress of 3-4 huge fights with my boyfriend added to the mix of school, work and money may have caused enough stress to throw my body out of wack for a month?

Like I said, I late taking several pills (maybe 5-6), but only by an hour or two. I also took one pill one hour early last week (the dark blue ones) if that makes a difference.

The last day for this pack of pills was this past Saturday, October 6. My boyfriend and I had sex that night as well as the next day, Sunday, October 7. We only see each other on the weekends and that's the only time that I have sex.

I haven't had any cramps, spotting, discharge, breast tenderness, I'm not extremely fatigued, and I don't feel sick to my stomach.

From the above facts, is there a high chance that I am pregnant?

Probably not. It sound like maybe stress. How late are you? Give it awhile and if you havn't gotten a period either try a HPT or talk to you doctor. Hope all is well!

The last day of the pack, as in the last placebo pills?

If skipping or getting late periods has happened before then it seems that's likely the case here too. However if you are concerned, please go take a test! Not all women have symptoms.

The last day of the pack as in active pills, sorry about that!

And as far as being late, I usually get my period sometime between Sunday night and Tuesday night of the placebo week. I know it's only a day, but I over-react about everything.

Thanks so much for the fast responses, as well. I just found this board as I was searching the 'net for information on this topic. This seems to be the best one by far!

Just in case you need reassurance..

A pregnancy test IS ACCURATE during your placebo week, so if you were actually pregnant it would show up.

It is DOUBTFUL that you are pregnant though.

Many women do not start bleeding until 4-5 days into their placebo week, and it is normal!

I'm having the same problem, actually -- full time student, part time job, arguing with the boyfriend, and I usually get my period between Sunday and Tuesday.

It's Tuesday night, and still...nothing. The main reason I'm on the pill (OTC) is because my periods before were exceptionally heavy (sometimes going on for three weeks at a time). There's pretty much no way that I would be one of those people who would get "a smudge" and have it be their period. Should I be worried at this point?

Speaking from experience... I went through the same thing you guys are going through right now. I found out I was taking my bc pills wrong (not taking the last couple active ones because I had started my period early) and I was really late on my period, spotting, was tired, felt sick etc. etc. I thought for sure I was pregnant! But all is good and I just got my period today so I'm not pregnant (a week late but better than never!) I think anything can screw up your period cycle.. and mine was probably from freaking out that I could be pregnant.. how ironic!
