Just curious if anyone has gotten the HPV vacine called Gardasil. I have my annual with my gyno next month and think I'm going to get it done. Let me know about your experience, good, bad, or indifferent.

Thanks!

Hi!
I don't have personal experience with Gardasil as I'm age-limited( I'm missing a great chance Sad )
I guess as all other vaccines there can be local or injection-site and systemic reactions or adverse side effects.
Also, as for any vaccine, vaccination with GARDASIL may not lead in developing immune answer and protection in all vaccine recipients.
At the site of injection you can feel pain and swelling or redness can develop in first 10 days after the vaccination. Fever, gastroenteritis, headaches and some other symptoms can be experienced as a systemic side effects.
This happens in very rare cases and you don't need to be discouraged, but think of benefits you're getting from it.
I wish you luck with the vaccination and I'm waiting for you to come and share , I hope, only good things about Gardasil.
Best wishes!
Marija

Gardasil
I am nervous about Gardasil, as it hasn't been studied very thoroughly. Also the FDA has apparently received many side effect reports, including some deaths. I got a lot of information about Gardasil at this link:

I had the series of shots, and (knock on wood) no complications to date.

Although, I'm uncertain at this time whether my stomach pain and nausea are related to the birth control I'm currently on or the vaccination, since I began both around the same time. I'm sincerely hoping it's the birth control.

I'm terrified, now, of developing more serious complications, in light of all the reports of rising adverse reactions and even deaths linked to the vaccination.

I also have a few questions regarding the vaccination. I'm sorry,I didn't really know where to post this. I'll continue looking, and may re-post (or maybe someone could point me in the right direction).

Does anyone know the general time frame for when the complications occured? I haven't had a dose since probably January, but I'm scared now that I may develop a problem. I've also recieved a lot of mixed information, even in my research.

How many people have actually died? And are there really enough people getting seriously ill from the vaccination to worry, considering how many people have recieved it and experienced no negative side-effects?

Any help would be appreciated at this point.

Edit: I checked out the link given, and am even more alarmed! Has anyone experienced symptoms or spoke to a doctor about the vaccination?

The protection
if you are fortunate enough in your age group (I believe it is available to women to the age of 30) because it can protect you against four strains of HPV. My GYN has told me that they are working to improve those odds.

Cervical cancer is and can be the result of HPV. If I were a young woman, I would not hesitate to take advantage of this protection.

I grew up as a young person when polio was a threat. At that time, people who had that virus lived in an iron lung. That is pretty hard to imagine for most of us. But, they did.

Marija is right in her encouragement to you to not let someone frighten you into not taking the innoculation.

My doctor says she totally believes in the benefits of it.

You have to make your own decisions. Take care and be safe.

respect thanks sunny

HPV vaccine
Are you guys serious?? There are no where near enough studies on the safety of gardasil, and to date, there have been over 12000 reactions, including Guillian Barre syndrome, and death! One of the ingredients is SODIUM BORATE which is a common COCKROACH killer. Did I mention that cockroaches can survive a nucear war? So it must be pretty strong stuff. Oh, but let's inject it into our 9 year old girls. Even Merck itself has admitted that there is a carcinogenic link, and that some of the ingredients caused infertility in mice. The cervical cancer rates have dropped significantly with regular pap smears, contraception, and healthy diet. How do you even know the fertile health of a 9 year old girl?? She hasn't even hit puberty! Aluminum, sodium borate, thimerasol (mercury) are NOT SAFE to be injected into the human body people!! Did you know that the safety report on gardasil is not due to come out until September 09?? Yet, let's jab millions of 9-12 year old girls in one mass experiment. Just google Gardasil reactions, and I'm sure you'll change your mind. If you've already done it, then I hope your body is strong enough to undo the damage!!
