Q: Deformed Jaw...

Hi everyone, im new here. anyway lets get straight to the point

When I was 8-9 years old, my jaw used to pop. I never told anyone about this and it went away after a while. Now the I'm 19 I noticed my jaw is asymmetrical, apparently the right part of my face is fuller than my right one, and it's very noticable. It's clearly that I suffer from TMJ. This bothers me greatly and it makes me depressed everytime i see myself in the mirror. I want to fix this, do you think getting braces will fix it? cause i read somewhere that braces can fix jaw problems.

And if that's not possible, should I consider jaw surgery?

braces do not correct jaw problems --if anything they make them worse--unless you have the right doctor. jaw surgery is the last option and that is only considered after all conservative treatments have been tried and failed.

pm me if you need a good doctor. im willing to hel pyou all that i can.

thanks a lot. but is there any other way to correct jaw asymmetries? Also, my jaw doesn't pop anymore and I don't feel any pain at all. Is this normal?

yes it is normal for tmd to not have poping or pain. sometimes you have it but later on you might. there are ways to correct asymmetries. your jaw is probably a little swollen. and no ones face is perfect. you might want to find a good tmd specialist. i can help you with that.

Ok, so braces are off the question?

and by "ways" to correct asymmetries you mean surgeries?

no i dont mean surgeries. there are conservative ways. you should not have braces because they mess with the bite wich messes with the muscles. like i said il can help you find a specialist to help you with this.

Wow, how can I know if the jaw is swollen and not assymetrical?
I read somewhere that the lower jaw is "one bone" and that it cannot be assymetric. How could I reduce the swellness?
