Most people on tv are thin, good looking, have perfect hair and make-up and great clothes, and don't really seem to have money issues.

No one ever claimed that tv was 'real'.

of course tv isnt real. but some of the things they portray are made to be realistic.
it shouldnt make a difference whether they are good looking or not. im sure there are many good looking pregnant teenagers out there that get cruel opinions

What laura is saying is that you can't put stock in what you see on television. It isn't real therefore it is not portraying what happens in real life. Heck, you can barely believe what you see on the news half the time. Do we wish life worked as well as it does on tv? Sure. Does it ever actually happen that way? Not even close.

i think the point the poster was trying to make was maybe if they want us to beleive whats on TV or even be interested in it, perhaps it should be a little more along the lines of real, or more beleivable.

TV should be more realistic, but that's not going to happen. I've learn't to deal with it, i'm a 16 year old mother of a 3 month old baby girl and if someone doesn't like it then in the nicest possible way they can shove it up their arse

but it angers me off that people cant except it.
40 years ago it was seem as a ok thing to have a child at a young age.
why not now.
im sure there were some immature people those days. and there are today. but there are also some very mature young mothers that are doing great. and i gets me so annoyed when people look down on it.

I agree they should make movies about teen parents more realistic, they glorify it really. It should put teen girls off wanting a baby young but it has the opposite effect. "Riding in cars with boys" was better because it showed them struggling to cope with their situation.
