Osteo (bone) penia is a decrease in bone mineral density that can indicate potential development of osteoporosis. Balance and coordination exercises are good (try balancing on one foot for 1-2 minutes and then changes sides) as are exercises the help you develop coordination. Yoga is great for this!

Bearing weight on the bones increases the production of osteocytes, which are the cells that help build bones. A Tuffts University study in 1994 that demonstrated that even sedentary women (ages 50 - 70) who engaged in a regular exercise program preserved their bone density, while non-exercising women lost bone density.

A few good exercises:
* Tai Chi
* Walking
* Hatha yoga asana
* Gentle weight lifting
* Spine, wrist, hips, and coordinations exercises
