Q: Halo 3 Widows...
asked by: Georgia59 on October 6th, 2007

My hubby got Halo 3 and hasn't quit playing since it came out. We were supposed to have a totally fun night, invited some friends over, etc. And they all are now playing Halo 3. And I HATE Halo! I'm terrible at it!!

::::::::rolling eyes::::::

The sad thing, he's not gonna grow out of it. His dad still plays video games.

What did I get myself into???? Anyone in a similar situation??? I have been left for a video game....

I know how you feel. My hubby goes over to his friend's houses two or three nights a week to play video games. It usually is Halo 2 or 3.

If you read my post, I did play along with my hubby on the first two. I absolutely hate it. I wouldn't care if he still made a little time for other things, but it's all he wants to do now and it doesn't really involve any women. Kind of a men only thing.

Hi Georgina

1.... disconnect game controller
2.... walk into the kitchen with it
3....run it under the tap
4....dry it on the outside only
5....remove any battries and put them in the wrong way
6....reconnect hand control
7....make a cuppa coffee
8... sit and feel smug that he can't play it later

OR ...Just for 20 seconds, put Halo 3 into the Microwave ..(joke)

omg I know exactly how you feel. It's pathetic, he gets home from work at 4 and spends like 2 hours with me. He plays from 8 at night till 2 in the damn morning. It's such a pain, he doesn't realize how horrible he's making me feel. I hate that stupid game! Plus he plays it online and talks to other video game retards on his head set. It's really making me sad that he'd rather play a video game then spend time with me. It's a miracle I haven't broken the stupid game yet. Evil or Very Mad

For all you "widows"... why not try playing the game with your men? I'm a gamer myself, and I think the game is great XD And yes, I'm terrible at it too.

And for all of you going on about video games teaching kids to be soldiers... Grow Up. It is a GAME. And HALO is NOT a children's game. It is marketed for adults. There are many games out there that children cannot even legally BUY. Why? Because they are ADULT video games. What's the common word here? GAME. Football is a game. Baseball is a game. It's recreational.

Video games do not make people violent. Music does to make people violent. Bullies at school and parents who ignore/abuse their children: THAT is what makes kids violent.

Do I agree that playing from 8 pm until 2 am is excessive? Of course! But TALK to him. Work it out together.

I played Halo 2 with him and I sucked and it pissed him off. He takes the game way to seriously. But he takes everything way to seriosly. And he only has one controller.. so can't play halo3 with him. Trust me if I could I'd play with him. I hate the game but I wanna spend time with him.

I have talked to him. He just whines that all he does is work blah blah blah and that it's not like I have anything better for him to do. Which is true, we're saving money for the baby so it's not like we're going out alot. But still, I'm pregnant and emotional and I want time with the Daddy to be before the litte one gets here. Sad

Tell that to the game developers who work 100-hour weeks and have the potential to make six-figure incomes. And how about the games like Rumble Roses and Gears of War that are geared at an adult audience?

Gotta agree with this. My BF and I are both gamers and we usually play a few rounds of Super Smash Bros. when I visit him. I lose to him, but by a slim margin....oh how I will rub it in the day I win Smile. He will have to sulk away with his tail between his legs knowing his girlfriend beat him at his game.

But I have heard a lot of women whining, "Ohhh my hubby dont do nuttin but play dem vide0 gameez al d4y" and never once did they think to play the game with their partners. Even if it's a lousy game, it's still time spent with your partner doing something together.

If he's playing waaaaay too much, I suggest talking to him about it. Taking his games or destroying them is immature and will probably just make him resent you or he may return the childish favor and take something of yours and hide or break it. If you need to go to counseling, then do so, although I don't think throwing money away to someone who will nod at you and tell you what you already know is necessary to deal with this kind of problem.

oh for GODS Freaking SAKE.

LOL Good thing u arent over there protecting us.. because you'd be shooting at them with your Laser guns and throwing balls of fire.

Rolling Eyes

My grandfather used to make the games that taught the soldiers how to fly.. they arent GAMES.
Do u actually think that the military is investing in PS3 to teach them how to fly billion dollar vessels and fight to protect a country of billions?

LOL

Ignorance is bliss.

I like video games. He likes video games. We play each other sometimes and it's bonding.

I just can't get upset if he's playing something all the time. He doesn't need to spend every waking hour doting on me and my needs. He's got a life, he can do what he wants with it.

If you leave him alone and not say anything instead of pester him it pays off later.

The thing is, I do like a lot of our video games and sometimes play with him when I have time (though I have a lot less free time than him!). But it's just Halo that I really hate, and especially since Halo 3 came out and it's taking up ALL his time. I know the novelty will wear out soon.

But to whoever was saying that video games are for kids, his 90 year old grandparents just bought a Wii so they can play golf in their living room!! Anyway I wouldn't let my kids play Halo.

I wouldn't let a kid under 15 play HALO either. It's too violent. When (if) I do have kids, video-game and TV time will be very restricted.

I will also pay close attention to the type of games I buy for my children. There are ESRB warnings for a reason, and that is to assist people in buying appropriate games. As a gamer myself, I know what's appropriate and what's not.
