I'm sure there are a lot out there. I just wrote a paper and had a huge research project on this in my english class last semester. But there are some treatments that are being used no other than chemicals (meds)

I know when I first came back from Afghanistan I didn’t think I had PTSD. I went on for about a year after I came back, until I had a friend of mine sit down a listen to some of the problems I was having. Such as not sleeping having to do multiple barrios repairs to a wall by the bed, being very irritable, drinking near about all the time... that friend was also my NCO at the time; if it hadn’t been for him I know I wouldn’t have gotten help. My thought process was simple before I was diagnosed with PTSD. There are things that I like, there are things that I don't like, and then there are things I don’t deal with at all. when I finally started talking with a therapist he asked me why I didn’t like the things that I didn’t like, and why didn’t I deal with the stuff I perfume not to deal with? And I thought that guy was a quack so I stopped going to see him (big mistake). A little later that year I got my only dui I will ever get, and was put in treatment. I found out there that I was self medicating with alcohol to relive pain and to be able to sleep (still having problems with sleep and it 5am here now, loll). so during my treatment I was refer back to mental health for more treatment that time I finally started to let down my defenses a little and see if it works, and it’s still kind of working to this day. I guess in the sort version of me blabbing is that there are soldiers out there who might not know they have it, or know that something is different and leave it at that. Also there are some who have been to get help and have said basically to hell with this. It all just depends on the person. The only thing I know is that it does get better with help and time.
