Q: Help! My Mom Thinks Im Pregnant!

Im 16 and have been on the pill for I think 2 years now. Very recently I became sexually active, but still use a condom/withdrawal method even though Im on the pill, just to be safe. A few months ago, I gained some weight, which I thought was normal since I hadn't gained weight in quite some time (4 years) and that it was just me growing up. Most of this weight went to my butt and hips and thighs and breasts, not my belly, which is still almost as flat as it used to be. My breasts arn't tender or swollen, and while I have been peeing frequently, I've sortof been that way my whole life. The other day, I was using the mirror to check out my outfit, and she asks me why I have a belly! I hadn't thought that I had a belly, but I listen to what my mom says and so was real paranoid for the next week until I got my period. The period was full length and as far as I could tell, nothing out of the ordinary. But thins morning, my mother says to me, I want you to take a pee test! I tell her I've had a normal period and she says that it dosn't matter, I could still be pregnant because Im on the pill and Im young so that could make me have a fake period or something. Its been a week now since I was off my period, and no spotting.
Should I be worried or is my mom full of it?

If you are taking your birth control pills correctly, you are protected from pregnancy. Using condoms also is a great way to maximize your protection. Your mom is just scared. Take the pee test, look at her and go, "See. I told you. God, you never listen to me." Smile

You aren't pregnant. Remind your mom that birth control pills are 99% effective against pregnancy.

Your weight gain is normal at your age, in the exact spots you mentioned. Smile

Good luck.
