Imperforated anus info
yes, I am very familiar to this, my daughter was born with imperforated anus in 2002, she is now 7 years old. They do not really tell you much early on, I think its because some children go on to have regular bowel movements, (I have read that anyway) but my child has suffered from regular constipation and also has problems holding her urine. We have taken her to be checked and Doctor says her surgery looks good, and that since her anus was not formed naturally...that it will never be 100% perfect. He went on to say that some children have to have another surgery about age 9, but that hers looked like it was done very well...and that we can only help by giving her a diet in high fiber. She has a Doctors appointment coming up again and after I have done research on internet, I have reason to believe she may have a urinary tract problem...I have read that it is common with imperforated anus children. Although it can be very taxing on us as parents, I can only be gratful that it is not worse....I have read that some children have many more problems on top of imperforated anus condition, and it was not too long ago that imperforated anus was not treatable...maybe like 27 years ago or so. So we play the cards that are dealt to us and do the best we can. I hope your boy does get better and know that there are more families out here dealing with the same thing...I wish there was a parent support group near me, I am in Long Beach,ca. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.
