Q: Possible HIV Infection from metal prick? No flu present

Hi, I'm 15 years old and I've been worried about something that happened a really long time ago. No, I've never had sex/used drugs/any of that stuff, but when I was 12, I was playing with a bunch of travel pins at a gift shop. While playing with them, I accidentally got poked with one - I looked at my finger, and I saw a bit of blood (it looked dried for some reason). In the bathroom, it took awhile to wash off the blood - I wasn't sure if it was mine or if it was from the travel pins in the basket. Either way, I was extremely paranoid, and I wanted to die after that. Since then, I've calmed myself, and I don't seem to remember any week-long flu that seems to come with acute HIV infection afterwards. I know this is crazy, but is this a possible source of infection? Now that I think of it, I might have had a cold or two (I just started going to school in the city/subway), but nothing super-serious that forced me to stay home for a week or so.

Please help - this has been plaguing my mind for the past three years and I really hope to get it resolved.

Thanks in advance.

And also I've been thinking - what if while I was sleeping on the subway someone next to me took out a needle and poked me? What then?

I know I'm paranoid - I'm just really nervous sometimes.

Not really sure, but there are a lot of crazy people out there. You never know.

Anyway, what if I do have HIV? There are people who are told that they have an extremely small chance of infection, but they get infected anyway...that must feel horrible.

Let me recount my symptoms:

~No persistent/generalized lymph node swelling (right neck hurts a bit, probably from heavy bookbag that I carry with one arm)
~Motor/cognitive functions fine - memory a bit down though (maybe from anxiety/head trauma? I'm clumsy and I get hit on the head a lot)
~No chronic cough/cold/flu

ok well if you really think you have HIV then you need to go to the doctor and have them test you
however i highly doubt you got HIV frm the pins at the shop
and if some psyco crazy person poked you on the subway then yeah you could have it

were you poked or not on the subway by the way?

Nah I wasn't poked - it's just something I thought of after being scratched/poked while getting up by someone's writing utensil on the subway.
