Q: Pain Inserting Tampon Caused By Pill?

Hello,
i've been on the combined birth control pill for four months now. Since the first period on the pill, it's been painful to insert and take out tampons. I've been using tampons for many years, and have never experience pain like this inserting tampons. It feels like little pinching(the ones that hurt the most). A lack of lubrication is not the problem, because my period provides a good amount of that. I have no other symptoms, so that rules out an infection. Other then this one side affect, the pill has been wonderful to me. I have no cramps at all anymore, and my periods are regular! Any suggestions as to why i'm feeling pain and helpful tips to help ease the pain? I have not ruled out if it's painful to insert something when i'm not on my period, because i'm not sexually active.
Thank you for your time!

I would say, symptoms or not, that you have an infection. Some women when they have bacterial vaginosis do not even get symptoms. But, it does make you tender down there. I have never heard of that being a side effect of a b/c pill, but that doesn't mean that it isn't!!
I would go to your doctor and get checked and ask if it maybe is a side effect of the pill you are on. If so, you can switch to a pill that is like yours, but that hopefully will not have that nasty side effect. Hopefully, someone else can help you more!

Other Idea
The pain inserting the tampon could be because your birth control pills could be decreasing the amount of estrogen that you body is producing. I had the same problem. Go to your doctor, make sure that it isn't something serious, but it could be from the birth contol pills.

i had this same problem; I thought I was just a lucky tight gal! I also know that the pill can cause vaginal dryness, so even though you have your period maybe this is the cause? I say this because during sex I am evidently wet, but the condom has broken before due to not enough lubrication. Perhaps also that seeing the pill decreases flow, it's not enough to lubricate the tampon? This is just my assumation, and hopefully someone figures it out because I am a "victim" of this as well!
