Q: No Sex For Five Years
asked by: addison on October 2nd, 2007

What do I do to get my husband to make love to me? He knows it's an issue and he knows it's becoming a problem that needs to be solved. I'm about at my wit's end.

Have you gone to counseling? Have you discussed this with your husband? Why is there no sex? Is it a medical issue?

There are so many variables here.

Wait. You've only been married for 6 years and 5 of those years you haven't had sex?

I think this is truly something you need to discuss with your husband. If he isn't wanting sex for some reason. If it doesn't please him... if he can't get an erection... These are all things that only he could tell you.

Frankly, if my husband rebuffed me even one single time I'd ask him what his problem is and I'd ask him immediately.

We talk about it and he knows it's a problem. I'm almost 51 and he's 53.

I guess I'm wondering, should I go all out and seduce him one more time and if it fails, ask him to go for counseling with me?

I would ask him to go to counseling whether he goes for it or not. This is a serious issue. As newlyweds you had sex for 4 months and then nothing? Nothing at all? That is not normal and it sounds like avoidance of some other issue to me.

You talk about it, but continue not to have sex. He knows it is a problem but nothing is done to change it. Those are the reasons for counseling. Whatever is causing the apathy about the sexual relationship.

Something definitely seems off. Did you find a counselor?
