Andrew, what does marijuana have to do with it? Interesting that you mention that because my discomfort gets worse when I smoke marijuana! I thought it was just in my head.

Same problem. Have had it for almost a year. I may have stumbled on the answer. I had canida in my mouth dr gave me nystatin to treat. got the wheels turning that may be the root of puffyness around urethra. Tried nystatin on it and seems to be making a big defference. I think it is definately candida(yeast).

Update.I am sure my urethra puffiness is do to candida. I have made some good progress in just a few days. I also have intestinal candida which is now dying off. Here is what I have been doing to solve the problem. For the puffiness around the urethra I have been using Ketoconazole anti-fungal cream prescribed by my doctor. I could see a difference within a few minutes. My penis is almost starting to look normal again(what a great feeling). To test if you have intestinal candida do the candida spit test in a glass of water. If legs or strings extend from your spit you may have candida in your gut. For this I have been taking nystatin, probiotics(brand:nutrition now PB8)and went on a low carb diet. I can see the dead yeast in my crap everytime. This has been an awful problem and I have struggled for a year to figure it out. All the doctors missed this.Fortunately I was persistent and think i have figured this one out. hopefully this info helps others with the same problem. Feel free to contact me if you want more info.

as the author above outlined, there could be several causes to the problem.

Once infection is ruled out, which is toughest because that is the first obvious choice to go after, there isnt much else it could be

1.)obstruction - any obstruction can cause referred inflammation of the meatus. this includes urethral strictures, scarring, and even prostate obstruction

2.) inflammatory. this could be things like lichen planus or lichen sclerosus (aka BXO). alternatively if you have a tight foreskin the constant trauma during intercourse will result in chronic low grade scarring and eventually persistent redness and inflammation. In this case treatment is circumcision.

in any case the best option is to talk to a urologist and weigh your risks / benefit ratio.

I too am suffering from this same condition, but i currently 1.) dont have time for a circumcision 2.) am still to scared to do it 3.) the pain has not reached enough of a threshold to get me past 1 and 2.

Same situation here. Weird, feels like a pinch right at the tip of my penis. Sometimes shooting pain down leg, near belly buton.

All STD's back negative, CAT scan shows no kidney stone.

Learned that the tip of the penis is where any infection or irritation will show up, even though its not in the penis. Like Kidney pain in the bladder could manifest in the penis.

Anyway, I've been at this for 2 months and have found that SMOKING and BEER after you are 34-36 takes its toll. I tried no beer and no smokes for a week and noticed the frequency of pain is less. Its still there, but not as much.

Alos being consistently dehydrated makes it insane pain. So lots of water, lay off the booze and if you can, get some anti anxiety meds.

i do not have any std symptoms but i do have a what looks like a small cut on the outside of penis hole. no pain during urination but do feel a little sting during sex because of open cut. i thought it might be because i might of cut my self on my girls IUD she has in her because i hit it at times during sex. but one day i started noticing that the opening of the hole looked different and was sensitive when walkin around.. PLEase !!! help!!

Same problem, no idea why...I read that an irritated/sensetive urethra takes a very long time to heal. Been following advice from the net: stop checking myself all the time for discharge, lots of water and cranberry juice, stop alcohol and coffee (tough!). Been taking anti inflammatory as well. Seems to be working - not there yet but almost.

Well I've got what seems to be the same thing. I had sex with a chick when i was in England. I was pretty drunk and don't remember much. About 2 weeks latter i had a swollen urethral meatus. Then came a white growth on one side. I didn't mess with it for awhile to see what was going to happen. It seemed to grow out a bit but then started to grow down inside. I got all crazy one night and cut the growth off. It hurt like hell. But then a day latter all looked normal again. About two weeks latter there it was again. Persistent bast***. I still have it and cut it off 2 times. Does this sound like what you got? Oh and at first i felt a pinch here and there but not anymore. No discharge or anything.

I have had oral sex here and there a few months ago, one protected and one not. Not sure if its related but because I've been anxious its an STD, it might be related.

Anyways, a few weeks after oral, I noticed pin prick feelings in the tip of my penis. It actually felt like someone was take a pin and piercing me right through the tip. I noticed a few small raised lesions or sores and automatically thought I had herpes. Went to a walk in clinic and told me it didn't look like herpes. Went to an actual STD clinic and they told me it doesn't look like herpes and tested me for all STDs. They gave me Doxycyclene in case I had chlaymidia for 7 days. I thought it was getting better (probably in my head and the placebo effect) but came back. I went to my GP who also said it doesn't look like herpes. Took more blood/urine tests and a swab this time too. Everything came back negative.

I'd still think it was herpes if 3 doctors didn't tell me its not. Apparently its not easy to test for because 60% of people have antibodies for HSV1 and 2. PLUS, herpes usually only lasts 2-3 weeks during the first outbreak. I have no scabbing over, just a few small sores and the feeling of a pin going through my manhood. It doesn't hurt to urinate but I honestly feel like urinating a few times will irritate it and the feeling of pins gets stronger. Sometimes it will go away for a few days but will come back. Its been affecting me for over 5 weeks now and doctors have been no help

I will be seeing a urologist soon as it could be prostititis.

I am going to try using a cream I once had for a thrushlike problem I had on my groin called Clotrimaderm in case it is thrush. I'll let you guys know if it works, or the outcome of my visit to the urologist.

I am at the point where I don't care what I have anymore...I just want to be diagnosed and either fix the problem or do something that can alleviate it somewhat. I have no idea if I am contagious or if this will cause complications later in life. What is it? Its frustrating and the doctors are stumped...

Same issues PLUS frequent Urination. Sometimes I can hold it and sometimes I have to go 5 times an hour. ANXIETY is through the roof. PLease help ) we can help each other. Any other symptoms? I sometimes feel sore/ache around down there but where exactly i cant even figure out. Very uncomfortable situation. Redness on "head". Tried the cream - looked much better but as soon as I stop it comes back...so cream is not a solution. HELP!!

Well our story is similar, but totally different because it is my 5 yr old complaining of the chronic itching "pee hole." I know he is not sexually active but he does touch a lot like any other boy... I think I am leaning towards the yeast infection or similar due to the touching and not having recently clean hands. We are headed to the Dr. this week... will update if get some good feedback from her. Thanks for sharing this, you guys rock... with 3 boys I don't let this stuff go unlooked!

Guys I am sorry to say but seems like it is not east infection that causes this. even if some of us have/had it. it's not the cause...anyone with updates from Dr. visits?
