I injured my lower back about 13 months ago. After going to doctor after doctor and having them tell me there is nothing wrong with me i finally had a discagram (or what ever it is called) and they found fissurs in my disk at l5 s1. I went and spoke to a surgeon who wants to do a disc replacement as he believes this is better than having a spacer put in. I did the research on the replacement and decided on it. Now the insurance company that is handling my case sent me off to see one of there doctors who has told me not to have the surgery as he thinks i will be in more pain than i am now. So i am now messed as to what i should do!
Do i have the surgery and prey for the best or do i continue and put up with the pain? While i guess i could learn to live with it not that i want to mind you i dont know if i could cope being in more pain than i am now. Being 28 years of age i have a long time to deal with it, but i really need to get my life back.

If anyone can give me some advice on the surgery and how they where after it I would be very grateful

Re Disc Replacement
Hi Simon
Have you checked out the possibility of Laser spine surgery. Check out the site Laser Spine Surgery Tampa and read up on their surgery. Read their testimonies. My sister had it there in Jan. and she is about 80% pain free. I myself had open-back traditional spine surgery for a herniated disc and it was a terrible experience for me...after 6 months it herniated again. Haven't been free of pain since. Am looking at having laser surgery, maybe in Jan. It is very costly, but in the U.S. if you have a good insurance plan you don't have much out of pocket expense. For Canadians the cost is between 27 and 30 thousand.
Decisions, decisions!
