Q: Baby Shoes

We've never put shoes on Ava before. Well now that's she's walking, she needs shoes. We went to a b-day party Saturday and she wanted to get down and walk. I let her, but she stepped on some rocks and got her feet dirty. It made me realize that she really needs shoes. I took her yesterday to get some and she freaked everytime I touched her foot with the shoe. I don't know what to do. Anyone else didn't put shoes on their babies and had a problem? The only thing I can think of is just put them on and let her throw a fit until she gets use to them. What else can I do??

let her play with the shoe a few minutes before you try put it on her foot !
I know isn't the same thing but I love headbands and my daughter didn't let me put it on her head so I gave it to her and she played with it so when I tried put it on her again she wasn't scared anymore ... lol ...

good luck

I just got brayden his first pair of shoes too!! He got mad at me for tryin them on him and kept curling his toes up so I couldn't get it on! Now we put them on him at home so he can play in them and get used to how they feel! At first he was a little confused on how to stand up with his new shoes on, it was very cute!

How is she with socks? I'm wondering if she has a problem with things being on her feet or just with shoes. If she's ok with socks maybe you could just get her used to putting on sock's before you leave the house so she sees a routine. Then work your way up.

With Kyleigh, we didn't really put shoes on her either, unless it was with a frilly dress or something for a special occasion. She hated shoes when we first started putting them on her, but after a while, she got used to it. Now she goes and gets her shoes and tries to put them on herself. It's cute.

Stride Rite (not sure if they have one where you are) offers great first walking baby shoes. They're kind of expensive (Grandma bought these for $50) but they support her ankles well and ever since she got them, Kyleigh has been walking up a storm.

Wal-mart is my personal store of choice Laughing For $50, I could buy like 10 pairs of shoes

Thanks girls! I put socks on her only at night. Almost every night when I go check on her before I go to bed she has them off.
I'll check out the stride rites. I found the cutest brown shoe at Walmart the other day, but she flipped when I put it on her. She's in a 6 at 11 months. I'm afraid to buy it too soon just in case she grows out of them. I'm waiting until we buy her fall/winter clothes. It's still hot out here.

Shocked

finn's in a 2!

finn doesn't wear shoes yet either. he doesn't freak out or try to take them off, he just stands there like "now what?" and doesn't even try to walk. i need to get him used to them so he'll wear his new shoes for the wedding. i don't want my mom dragging him down the aisle!

williams in a size 3 1/2! hes ok with his shoes, but does take them off. hes not too good in walking in them. i think he really needs shoes that are quite slim and slender so he doesnt notice them, but nanny bought the pair he has on at the moment so he has to get some wear out of them!

Oni's been in a 5 for a LOOONG time! Her shoe size is bigger because her feet are wider.

Oni NEVER wore shoes. EVERRRR!! But once she started walking, she actually did BETTER once we'd put a shoe on her.

They were from Target and I SWEAR by them! They're so CUTE and easy to put on! They look JUST like stride rites and are only 9.99!!

wow liam is in a six at 18 months and i thought his feet were big since macy just got into a 7 at 2 and half. We bought liam pumas for his first shoes cuz they are kinda soft on the bottom but still shoes. I dont have a shoe prob with macy, she loves shoes (true girl?! lol) but liam did that like Finn where they just stand there or sit back down n try to figure out what they are.

I'm going get Oni her first pair of Pumas Sunday!!!!

I don't wear any other type of tennis shoe...and feel ashamed that I haven't gotten her any!!!!

I didn't want to get her a size that she would grow out of quick...so I decided to wait!!

I'm sooo exited about getting her some Pumas Sundaaaaayyy!!!
