Tiny tear on the outside of my vagina very itchy Posted: 10-01-07 12:18pm
In May of this year i stopped taking the
contraceptive pill 'Cilest'. My husband
and i started to use condoms, non- latex
as the others irritate me. During this
time i have noticed a tiny tear appear on
the outside of my vagina at one side.
Sometimes it becomes very itchy and i
notice it more when my period is due or we
have been using condoms, however i feel
this may just be the friction of sex that
irritates it. Do u think this could have
something to do with my body's changing
hormones since iv stopped using the pill
or something to do with the condoms, and
what should i do? I'm convinced its not a
yeast infection as i have treated for this
and nothing changed.
Thanks Kooza

Go to your doctor! nobody will know for
sure, so just go to PP or your normal
doctor to be safe. No use wondering for a
while.

I don't think (although I'm not 100% sure)
that tears in your vagina could result
from hormones in bc pills.
The logical reason is probably friction
due to sex. Since the vagina is an
opening, it would take a little while to
heal, like when you get a cut in your
mouth for example. Sometimes the inside of
my nose gets irritated and it doesn't heal
for months. Could be something like that.

A tear in your vagina should heal after a
while...
If it is itchy, that could mean it is
infected. It's common to tear your vagina
during sex, and hormonal changes can
contribute to your vagina being more dry
than usual, which could make the
irritation and tearing easier. Try using
lube if you think that might be the
problem.
But if it's not going away, you should
probably check with your doctor.
