Hi.. This is all very new to me..I am a 26 year old art teacher currently in recovery (3 weeks) after surgery. My surgery went okay, but in recovery things went terribly wrong. During my surgery I was supposed to be injected with a hormone to make sure that my blood would clot. I did well, however 3 days after my surgery, in the hospital, and in nurses care, My sodium level dropped to the point where I couldn't move my body, couldn't talk, but could hear the commotion around me (105). Doctors were telling my parents that they thought I had a stroke... and they may not be able to save me. No one knew what happened. Finally they figured out that my sodium level had dropped due to a computer "glitch" the nurses said that the computer told them to keep giving me the hormone that was supposed to be only for surgery. A similar experience happened to my mom. She had a massive seizure when her sodium hit 115.. I was just wondering how bad was I? Why did I not seize? I have many more thoughts and questions.. but never knew this could happen due to low sodium.. and apparently neither did the nurses!!
