Please Help! When Should I Hear a Heartbeat? Posted: 03-27-04 01:50am
My name is jackie, I am 6 weeks and 5 days
pregnant. I went to the doctor yesterday
for the first time. The doctor performed
a vaginal ultrasound on me, they located
the baby, but there was no heartbeat, and
the doctor said my baby had died. My
doctor is trying to get me to do a
d&c. I have to talked to other
people, and they say, you can't hear the
heartbeat this early. I've talked to
other people and they say that doesn't
mean the baby has died. The weird thing
is that I haven't had any problems, I
haven't had any cramping, and i'm not even
bleeding. Has anyone had this problem?

I have just been through this very same
thing. Be sure your doctor does a follow
up vaginal ultrasound in a week to
determine if there has been a change. If
they are not willing to do this - find
another doctor! You may have concieved
later than you thought.

checked out again!!! Good luck to you..

I went to the doctor when I was 7 weeks
pregnant, and they said to come back at 10
weeks to hear the heartbeat. They can
normally see the heartbeat at 6 weeks, but
my doctor said that at 7 weeks it was too
early to hear it. I would get a second
opinion. Good luck, and god bless!
