Headache - pain behind one eye (dark room & ice pack TX)
Posted: 09-26-07 17:16pm

I have had frequent headaches for the past five years. It is always behind the left eye. Actually it feels like it is inside the eye (top rear). I can almost find the epicenter from which it radiates. The rhythm feels like a heartbeat. I would describe the pain as throbbing (pounding). Light often triggers it and defiantly makes it worse and more frequent.

An eye exam did not reveal the cause. Medical doctors (family and neurologist) have tried every thing, including pure oxygen and imitrex (pills and injections). The last neurologist I visited spent all of two minutes with me before handing me about six different medications to try. A dark room and ice pack are the only thing that works.

I do not like taking any med and will not be experimented on any longer but am willing to see a physician who cares as much for his patients as his bottom line. It must be someone who specializes in headaches.

Does anyone know of such a person around Montgomery Alabama.

Is this pain severe and for how long the headache attack lasts?
Have you visited ophthalmologist to check for eye disorders?
Have you been treated for migraine?
Are you experiencing a jagged zigzag pattern of shimmering lights in the side vision before the headaches start?
Do you feel tingling or numbness on the same side of your face?
Do you have tearing and nasal drainage on the affected side?
Are you suffering from infections of your sinuses?
