Less Fetal Movement @ 21 Wks? Fetal doppler reads OK Posted: 09-29-07 11:56am
I am 21weeks preggers....and for the past
week I havnt been feeling the baby move as
much. Has anyone else experience this, I
used to feel a lot of flips and flops, but
not I dont. I feel some moving at night
time etc.
Is it because he is getting bigger and
cant really flip flop anymore....and not
big enough to feel his kicks and
punch's...I know he is ok because we have
a fetal doppler...heartbeat is good and
strong...I dont know if I should be
worried or not...Did anyone else notice a
dip around 20weeks. and then it pick up
again later on?

For me, feeling the movement was spotty
through about 23 weeks. At 23 weeks, the
kicks and movements suddenly got a lot
stronger and more consistent and I started
noticing obvious patterns of activity and
inactivity. I doubt you are feeling less
movement because of the baby's size at
this point; it's still pretty small.
Sometimes, too, they can turn and position
themselves so their kicks are directed
towards your spine and then you feel them
less. And my baby tends to be more of an
evening/night baby; she rarely moves much
in the mornings/early afternoons. Around
21 weeks, I would sometimes have days
where I would not feel much movement at
all and other days where I would feel
more.
If you are getting a strong heartrate on
the doppler, I don't think you have any
reason to worry though definitely mention
it to your doc if you still don't feel
much movement by your next appointment.
I'll bet it's just the positioning of the
baby though coupled with the fact that
he's still a tiny thing. At my big
ultrasound, I was just a couple days shy
of 21 weeks and they told me my baby was
weighing 12 oz.; that's not even 1 lb.
yet!
yepp, i only can remmeber with my 2nd
pregnancy though, closer to 30 weeks they
felt more regular and u could practically
see it through my belly when she kicked.
For all you know the baby could be moving
around when you are sleeping though, when
your awake and walking it sorta rocks the
baby to sleep from the rythm.

I don't think it's because the baby is
getting bigger and doesn't have enough
room. THat doesn't happen until about 30
weeks, or so...
I've read that they've developed a
sleeping pattern and you'll begin to
notice it around this time. So it's
probably just sleeping! :0) !!
My baby moves more at night when I'm
trying to sleep than when I wake up! It'll
start wriggling around at about 11am.
I wouldn't worry! Being that you have a
doppler to check the heart rate, that
should be enough to ease your worries!
It's your 1st child, so it's REALLY REALLY
hard not to worry! I remember spazzing
about every little thing when I was preggy
the 1st time! lol! Now I just relax and
tell myself that all is good!!
