I went to the ER yesterday with a very bad sore throat (apparently not strep) and muscle soreness in my forearms which was bad enough that I can't make a strong fist with either hand. After taking blood tests he said that my myoglobin and CK levels were about double the norm. Basically he said to go home and rest and drink a ton of water, then come back and get my blood tested again. Is this more than likely infectious myositis or could I be looking at the more serious kind where I'll have to deal with it for life? I'm really worried about this having never had this kind of issue before. How soon will I be able to use my hands completely again? Isn't there something I can be doing to help myself other than resting?
