Can Testicular Torsion Pain Go Away By Taking Antibiotics?
Posted: 03-26-04 20:28pm

Last feb I woke up 4 in the morning and suddenly felt pain and a lump in my right side testicle, I thougth it would just go away after a few days... But then 3 days have passed it just gotten bigger that's when I seeked medical help.
My first appointment with a doctor said that it was orchitis, so he prescribed inoflox(antibiotic) for me withing one week, after a week less pain would occur and swelling stopped, but then it didn't lessen in size yet. So I decided to have an appointment with another doctor, and prescribed me cephalexine(another antibiotic) where he ruled out that it was just an infection same as the first doctor who said it was an orchitis, but he ruled it out without testing using an ultrasound. So a week of antibiotics made the pain go away, and now i'm at my 1 and a half month of swelling of the testicle, the pain is gone, but I think that my testicle isn't shrinking that fast.
To sum up
my pain in my right testicle woke me up, with a lump and after that symptoms like nausea, burning discharge of urine, and mypenis would just erect at my sleep with pain which wakes me up...
I've took up antiobiotics which relieved the pain, now it's gone
now i'm at my 1 and a half month and the pain is gone, but what about the swelling how long is it gonna take place to be normal?

Does pain involving testicular torsion goes away when taking antibiotics?
Coz if it does then i'm confused between testicular torsion and orchitis....
Plz help...

What the hell? Bacteria in the testicle? How did your doc know it's bacterial?

I thought the main one was the testicle twisting?

What did the doc do / ask to determine the diagnostic?

My Doctor Said

Maybe holding my pee caused that, I do remember holding it coz I thought it wasn't gonna come out yet. Maybe the bacteria went in inside again as I read from some pages.

He asks, me if I had sex, but I didn't, then doctor examined it by touching my right testicle, and then when he found out that it was tender, he prescribed me antibiotics and also applying hot compress on my testicle which he said could last for at least three months, but I don't see any improvement yet, my skin just adapted to the new size of my testicle, maybe it really is three months

and now it's still tender, could it be abscess or blood, or whatever if so then how would I remedy it?, if you have an idea

my next appointment to my doctor is on may

Does pain involving testicular torsion goes away when taking antibiotics?

According to my doctor NO. and i'm having surgery in Aug because of it.

My other docs all treated me for Epididymitis and the antiobiotics (and i've been on alot of antiobiotics) worked for a while but the swelling didnt go away very fast, if it went down at all, and I still had very bad pain in my lefty. so finally when I changed doctors this one did a sonagram and with me telling him about my symptoms (nausea, slight burning when I pee, pain would wake me up at night, could not even go #2 without my nuts retracting instantly to my body and the tubes that are supposed to be on the backside of the nut, they were on the side and sometimes on the front of it) he came to the conclusion of testicular torsion and said that i need surgery because if left untreated i might eventually need it removed because the blood could not leave the testicle and that is why it is swollen.

I'm Praying For You Guys

Hey yall,
I'm praying for everyone here. But to zbow, I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I had a surgery back in January for my case of intermittent testicular torsion. It got bad before hand...I had nausea, tenderness, and crazy spasms and retractions. My nut even went up into my body and thank God came back down, but going number 2 ALWAYS made it retract. You do need surgery because if it cuts off the blood supply you will truly know some pain. BUT the good thing is the surgery helped a lot! I got inflammation afterwards, had some really rough healing but I'm getting there. I'm still not 100%, but I'm back to physical activity some. But if you have questions about the surgery or symptoms let me know. I wanted to share my story and help you out the best way I can.

Testicular torsion is considered a medical emergency. It is diagnosed by doppler ultrasound. It is described by some as a "heart attack of the testes". The spermatic cord becomes twisted and blood supply is impaired or obstructed and tissue death will occur without surgical intervention. Torsion may cause some swelling of the testicle but this is not the determining symptom that would lead the doctor to do an ultrasound. The intensity of pain associated with nausea and vomiting are classic symptoms of a torsion and are red flags to a doctor. Antibiotics are ineffective in treating a torsion. Pain killers and surgery are the treatment options for testicular torsion.
