Hi everyone...I'm sorry to see so many suffering...at the same time, it is sort of comforting to know I'm not alone...I also apologize in advance for the length of this...sorry!
So, I went to the gyno because of this:
A month ago, I thought i had a persistant UTI so I went to a urologist for testing. I tested negative for the UTI, but the Urologist thought it was a good idea to give me a pap smear to cover the bases and rule out a vaginal infection. When he did the Pap smear, it was the worst I have ever felt down there. Like, I thought he was being rough, but I don't think he was. I thought he cut me, or something! It hurt so bad, so after, he said I didn't have an infection. My husband and I waited to have sex for a while because of the pain i was sort of still in down there. sore.
a month later, and a week after my period, we had sex...
After my husband and I had sex, the next day and the next night I had a weird, painful burning feeling in what felt like my vagina, and it hurt on top of my pubic bone area, and felt like I had the urge to urinate--no pain in my pelvis, or anything like that, so I didn't think to describe it as "pelvic pain". Anyways, this went on for a while (from Sunday to thursday with the awful burning pain and pressure in my bladder like i had to urinate, but it didnt burn when I peed in my urethra, and I have had bladder infections in the past, recently actually, so i knew the difference). On Thursday, it actually hurt to walk...felt like all the pressure inside of me was going to come out somehow of my vagina, as weird as that sounds, and I started feeling paranoid, and thought it best since I'd never felt like this before to call a doctor).
(Has ANYONE else had these symptoms?)
When the gyno went to check me out down there, she could barely get the speculum inside because it hurt SO BAD. Like, it is always uncomfortable getting that done, but it was like the worst pain ever.
So they did a vaginal ultrasound, and found a bunch of fluid in my uterus on my left side, like a cyst had burst or something but there was no cyst...or sign of one. My tubes looked ok from what she could tell, but the pain of pressure inside my uterus on that side was absolutely horrible.
So she took blood, and (I trust this doctor, by the way she seems really terrific) explained to me, calmly, that I seem very much to have PID.
OK so here is where I am now.
Had a shot that day in the gyno's office (thursday evening), and took the two pill dose of Azithromycin. I started the doxycyclie the next day. It is now saturday evening, and I haev the following symptoms/improvements....
Improved: the pain in my vaginal area seems to have gone down, and I don't seem to have the pain in my pubic bone area. (I've been laying down, a lot)
Symptoms remainig (the same):
had mucus, (used to be sort of brown streaky, and clotty, now its pink/red streaks).
had a slight temp at the docs (99.8 ), still have one, although it's slightly higher...at 100.4.
Symptoms (new):
some slight cramping in my lower back and sides (very slight, like I'm going to start my period soon or something, but I had my period a week and a half ago, maybe a bit longer), I am not tender to the touch.
Nausea and diahrea, some feeling of gas in my intestines.
I know none of you are doctors, but I was hoping someone has had some advice, as to whether or not the 2nd day in I should be like this, or what.
