It's strange but I consider myself a very clean person. I take 2 to 3 showers a day. I do not have a body odor but like a scent from my body is very disturbing. I can also smell and taste this odor. I went to the doctor and explained this problem but they always send me to a psychiatrist and tell me it's all in my head. This condition I have is causing me to go into a shell. I no longer want to work or be around people. I also consider myself a hermit because of this problem. Can you help me at least find a name for this condition or refer me to someone. I have been to family doctors. Dermatologist. Pathologist and it's all the same conclusion. Sad

Don't you worry, i'm sure it's all in your head. Here's my reasoning: I only take 1 shower a day. I do not have a "stinky problem" and I work out 3 hours per day of vigorous weightlifting. But if I was obsessed about my hygene and took 2-3 showers a day, i'm sure that I would find something psychological to make myself go insane. I think it's a case of ocd (obsessive-compulsive). If you're obsessed about your hygene, you're only going to find that you're not perfect, and the harder you try gets you very small steps forward into unsatisfaction.

Just put it aside. I bet the only person who notices the smell is you yourself. That's no reason to be anti-social or lose self esteem. Trust me.

Your buddy,
patrick

Sometimes what you eat will actually "come through" your skin in an odor, whether good or bad. Do you eat alot of garlic? I have heard that can actually make your skin smell. Obviously if you take many showers a day, it's not external, because you would have washed it off...Rather it's something internal. Try drinking lots and lots of water for a day or two...It flushes out your system. See if that helps.

I do not believe you are crazy. I have heard of this before.

Good luck!

Body Odor
Carvytaph is right what you eat can actually generate an odor "body odor" because of some of the spices used for cooking, garlic, cummin, curry even onions when eatin in extreme. If you are a female having vaginal odor that is a true sign of a yeast infection which could be resolved by any over the counter yeast remedy from the drug store.

Did you know that execive showering and bathing could lead to a breakdown of natural germ immunity and could even make you more vunerable to illness? Its true.

Extremely eHealthy
Well everytime I shower I always put on lotion all over. A sweet smelling lotion so I smell good! You should try victorias secret or bath & body works. They have great lotions that stay on for a long tims so you dont have to smell anything else. They have a thing called body butter, its a thick creamy lotion..I love it! You should try it....Or the body mints sound good.

confused by the smell!
I am not having this body odor people are speaking of, I was just sitting and all of a sudden I had this strange smell in my nose and it lasted for a few minutes and stopped and this happens to me periodically and I am just wondering if it may be allergies or sinus related. I can not descibe the smell it is just weird when this happens is the only time I have ever smelled that particular odor and it has happened for years maybe only twice a year and then sometimes it starts and last constantly for weeks. I have no idea what it is! HELP ME
