Medicaid Problems Posted: 09-27-07 09:11am
Ok, so I renewed mine & Oni's medicaid
about a month ago because we got a letter
saying it was that time.
Soooo...I called and told her that I was
married and she said that wasn't a problem
to just send in the app and so on.
So, last week I got a paper asking for all
of Baron's information so that he could
medically support Oni. Not me. Just Oni.
I don't get it.
When Oni was first born they sent me a
letter wanting me to describe him and give
them his info but I disreguarded it and
nothing ever came of it.
But this letter said that if I don't
cooperate they're going to drop MINE &
Oni's medicaid.
Now, my problem is, Baron's work DOES
offer medical insurance. We just missed
the opening to apply (which is October
& February of every year). So, because
I was pregnant, I had no choice but to re
apply for Medicaid.
I have an appt today to bring Oni's birth
certificate and Social Security card to
the Child Support Office(but it's FOR
medical support).
They're also going to Summons Baron to
court to get him to pay for Oni's
medical.
I'm going to be totally honest to them
because I know if I lie, I'll wind up
getting caught and that would be BAD. I'm
not trying to be accused of medical
fraud.
Man, it's just soo nerve wracking.
When Baron can get medical insurance from
his job. He will. He's MORE than willing
to support me AND Oni under his insurance.
GRRR!!!
Vent Over...
Has anyone else gotten papers like this
from Medicaid?? Or from the Medical/Child
Support Offices?

you explain to them the next opening isn't
until feb they will let you stay on...
hopefully
i don't really know how things work over
there but surely they wouldn't see a
pregnant woman with no healthcare....

Can't they cover it until an open
enrollment opportunity comes up for Baron?
I know all companies are different. But
there were certain times you could enroll
for insurance, but every once in awhile
they'd do open enrollment. Or something
like that. heck, I don't remember.
Sorry I'm not much help, but I hope they
get things sorted out. Stress isn't good
for you or the baby...they should consider
that!

When I signed up for Medicaid, they asked
me if mine or Aaron's job offered
insurance. I told them that it did, but we
couldn't afford to pay for it. (Which was
true.)
If you weren't able to apply for whatever
reason, I guess just tell them that. I
agree that the best thing for you to do is
be up-front and honest about everything,
and hope that your case worker is
understanding and sympathetic.

Thanks yall.
I told the lady (for the support) that his
job did offer it and that we missed the
bracket. I told her that it was VERY
expensive and we wouldn't be able to
afford it. Hence the reason I'm on year 3
of Medicaid.
I didn't mention, though, that I was
pregnant. It just slipped my mind. I guess
because the letter was concerning,
primarily, Oni.
I'm not stressing too much about it.
Because I know that they CAN be lenient if
you're honest and open with them.
Thanks again. I'll come back after I go to
the office and let yall know what's goin
on with it!

My insurance at my job only has open
enrollment in January of each year. if
you dont enroll then you are out of luck.
but my insurance did say that if there is
a marriage, death, or birth then that rule
doensnt apply. See if he can ask his
insurance about that. Im in AZ so every
state have different rules. The Medicaid
program can be a real hassle, just do what
they want. They want one thing and say
thats all we need then turn back around
and say oh we need a hair sample, blood
work and a gosh darn blood signature.
Sorry i too have anger towards them.....

Rosie, it's practically the same here! If
he had had the insurance for himself, when
we got married we'd have 6 months to
enroll me. But he wasn't enrolled himself,
so that was out of the question. As for me
being under his insurance, I'd now have to
wait until I Have this baby. As they won't
cover a pre existing pregnancy.(I got
pregnant LESS than a month after we got
married! lol)
Dani, Baron is going to apply next week.
He's going to get the paper work next week
and tally up the expences.
Medicaid said that if his insurance was
more than 10% of his net pay, they
wouldn't ask him to cover Oni. Sooo, we'll
just have to see how much it is for him
& Oni to be covered.
We HAVE 2 openings for insurance at his
company and I don't want to miss it. But I
don't want to jump any guns and apply and
it be expensive enough to have Medicaid
cover Oni. If that makes any sense? lol!
