Q: Question About UTI and Having Sex
asked by: Question4u on September 26th, 2007

My girlfriend had a UTI and it has been 5 days since it was hurting. The doctor told her not to have sex for 2 weeks and we understand that. But my girlfriend and I were talking last night and I was wondering something about the no sex thing. I love to please my girlfriend and understand that we cannot have vaginal sex. We were wondering though if manual stimulation of the clitoris would still be ok as long as everything was cleaned beforehand and there was no pain.

Thanks,
Joesph

I never had a doctor tell me I couldn't have sex when I had a UTI... weird. I don't know. She should ask her doctor, I guess.

I've never heard of banning sex due to a UTI either.

I wouldn't see a problem with trying it out as long as everything is clean-seeing how it's been 5 days since she felt any pain.

As long as there is no pain and she is taking her antibiotics then she should be fine to have vaginal sex. The antibiotics would prevent her from getting reinfected during sex. Just tell her to pee after, even if you dont have vaginal sex.

I know yeast infections can be passed back and forth between partners, but I've never heard that about uti's. I might use a condom just in case, you don't want to get one too!

And remember that antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills, if she's on them.
