Q: My Hypoglyecmia Story And Some Questions !

Okie where do I start, it's a long story but i'll make it short.

FIrst of all, please pardon my english as it's my second language.

One day in April last year, I was working and all suddenly I got dizzy. Went to the ER and the lab results came back said that I was healthy and prescriped me some heartburn medications and sent me home. Everything went downhill after that. At my lowest point, I would wake up in the middle of the night, hungry, cold, hot, sweating, shaken. I was out of work for a few months because I was always feeling weak/hungyry all the time. I went to all kind of doctors, 3 gastroentologist(spelling?), neurologists, chiropractors, alternatives doctors. They all said I was healthy and it was in my head and I was having minor heartburn. I was on stomach medications, anti depresant, ect.. and nothing helped. I had all kind of tests, brain MRI, chest xray(many times at the ER), adbomen xray with contrast, upper GI, countless blood works, h-pylori test, HIV test. I lost 20lbs and I became really skinny because I was thin to begin with. My head was always worrying about why I wasn't feeling well, basially I was a wreck Sad.

So I suffered like that for about a year, there wasn't a day that I felt even close to being normal. Of course I didn't know what I was suppose to eat so within the last year I went to the ER room 5 times and my labworks always come back as a healthy person. I finally stumble on another health forum with a chatroom on it, I spoke to the people there and they are convinced that I was a hypoglycemic. I thought in my head "oh what the heck, eating more often like every 2-3hrs instead of 5-6hr doesn't hurt". I did that and I started to feel better and my symptoms improved by at least 80%.

At this point I still dont' know the right food to eat, I felt better from eating more often but I ws still eating the wrong kind of food. That sent me to my last ER visit, which is 5-6 months ago. I was getting ready for a road trip, that morning I had some coffee and two donuts. Needless to say, 1.5hrs into the trip, while I was driving, all suddenly my body felt really hot, feel the tingling/something crawling under my skin. I was feeling really hot but I wasn't sweating. That lasted for about a minute and it went away. I got scare and went to a hospital that was 2hrs away from home. Once again the bloodworks came back normal, it says i'm a healthy person. It wasn't until I met a lady and she told me to stay away from foods that are white. Try to eat complex carbs instead of simple carbs. I then also found this site, I learned a lot of things from here. I never signed up for it but I always come here and read.

Basically when I had it bad back then, I had all the symptoms that many people here have. The dizziness, sudden hunger, anxiety(a lot of it), foul smell from the underarm, you name it, I had it.

Thank you for reading my story everyone. I just wanted to share it with you all and hopefuly it'll help soemone who would be in the same situation as I was. Before I ask some questions, I like to thank Stan for all the contributions he made for this forum Smile.

Now I like to ask a few questions if you dont' mind. I know I feel much better than before but I think i'm not doing something right. I still get light dizziness throughout the day and the anxiety still there. Please help me with my diet.

1. I'm asian, I eat a lot of rice and I know white rice is not good but how about brown rices?

2. I started to take my BS readings a week ago and monitor it very closely. Even when I feel hungry, my BS never gone below 80. THe highest was at 134 which happened 1hr righta fter I eat. Is it true that you can have a normal BS range and have the LBS symptoms?

3. I want to implement yogurt in my diet. I tried two different kinds of plain yogurt and they have some sugars in there. I do get hungry in the middle of the night and had to wake up and eat if I eat yogurt before bed. I think that little sugar gave me a little crash. What kind of yogurt do you recommend?

4. What kind of cereal is good for hypoglycemic? I'm looking for something with a lot of calories because I believe I have a fast metabolism.

5. Can stress cause hypoglycemia? My job has been very stressful during the past two years. I dont' know if it has anything to do it with.

6. Can I lift weight even I'm a hypoglycemic? I always love to hit the gym but LBS prevented me to do so many times.

7. Sometimes I feel like there're ant running under my skin on my back, my right back to be exact. What in the world is that? It doesn't happens all the time, only here and there.

That's all for now, thank you everyone for your help.

TT

1. Brown rice should be okay if you seem to tolerate it. Remember, don't expect to feel 100% immediately, it can take quite awhile. If it's not working you'll know because you'll just keep getting worse. You may get worse at first, but then it will stabalize, but if it just keeps going further and further it's the rice.

2. Yes, that is true. The speed of the drop in sugar is the importance, not the level it drops.

3. Sheep's milk yogurt. Not sure how easy it is to find in your area, but if you live out in the villages in China it might be fairly easy to make your own. Cow's milk yogurt usually causes problems. You can try goat's too.

4. Hmmm, for cereal I would recommend you try oatmeal first.

5. Yep, you sure can! I just came home from the gym. I lift about three times a week and lift a lot at times, in addition to practicing kung fu the rest of the week, taking days off here and there. Start slowly, however.

6. Crawling skin sensations is a common symptom, though I've never had it. Not sure what causes it, but it's nothing to worry about.

Sure, try it. I'd be surprised if you don't have a Whole Foods in the area? If so, check there for sheep's milk yogurt or better varities of goat. Make sure there isn't anything bad in it, I've seen some types with corn starch added, and you should'nt be eat that.
