Whenever my mom sits down or lays down she
gets this sharp pain in her upper right
back. It only happens when she sits or
lays down. I believe when she stands it's
still there for a bit, but dies down soon
after. She has had this for about 6-9
months now and it only happens for about
1-2 weeks after that she is fine until it
starts up again.
Does anyone have any idea what might be
the problem? She has seen the doc twice
so far and he didn't know what it was...

How is it when she's sleeping? In what
position does she sleep?

Hello Mhbp,
I would highly recommend that your Mom
make an appointment to see a neurolotist
and/or spine surgeon. She may need to
have an MRI if the spine specialist so
recommends.

Or the reason is uplifted ilium that
compresses the nerves when sitting. It is
a common cause of sitting pains and not
seen in MRI, CT nor X-ray. And most
doctors don't believe it exists.
