I had a really hard time with my prenatals, so my OB switched me to... Flintstones! I actually took the gummi kind because the chewables made me gag (I hated the chalky taste) plus a folic acid suppliment. If you're having trouble with your pills, you might mention it to your OB. S/he might refer you to another kind of pill, or the ever-so-awesome Flintstones. Wink

You can take children's Flintstone vitamins. They are chewable. You may want to add a folic acid supplement though.

any pillpopper would tell you to crush them with your front teeth and swallow them. Try doing that and it should help.
can anybody answer, how taking prenatal vitamins and how far along you been pregnant have to do with each other?

Prenatal pills are HUGE - it may be impossible to crush them without creating at least a heaping teaspoon of icky vitamin chalky grossness.

Probably not. They wouldn't be very 'crushable'. Seriously, they are HUGE. Obviously their hugeness makes them good for you Smile

OP you may want to ask your OB about Natachew...they have a berry flavor and they are chewable prenatals

I take Prima Care. They are a two pill combo. They are divided into am and pm. It is supposed to help maximize your absorption. You may want to ask your doctor about them. Because they are broken up, they are smaller and easier to take.

I am taking the Natachew. Right now the ones I have are orange flavored, but the last ones were just regular flavor, not sure what they were. They aren't bad, but they aren't great. I chew them in my mouth and before I swallow, I drink a glass of water. I don't like the chalkiness.

I actually crushed one today and chugged it in a glass of milk, gagged a couple of times, quite chalky, but I got it down.
I may just switch to a regular chewable folic acid, I guess as long as you get some sort of vitamin down your gullet thats all that matters

Iron and folic acid are two main vitamins you need. Of course the b's and all the others too. But your blood volume is increasing with pregnancy and your baby truly needs to folic acid. Smile

Yeah, crushing is chalky and icky. If you have that icky burpy problem some women get after taking them, you may try taking them at night before bed. But eat something just before you take it. That is supposed to help them absorb better.

MATERNA
Hello i just started materna about 2 weeks ago and it has been hell the first few days i felt queasy but nothing too horrible. Now I keep on pooping green have stomach pains or diarrhea along with nausea and fatigue. I tried it with water and nearly threw up in my mouth. I keep on getting acne and oily skin ever since I started these demonic pills. I tried taking them with yoggurt, oat meal nothing works, I have crushed them and still nothing works. I have to continue taking the materna because I would like to get pregnant very soon but my next ob appointment is not until august 21st we are not may 21, I will have to suffer with these pills until then for the sake of my baby but if there is anything that can help me take away this constantly tired sick feeling PLEASE HELP ME.... If this is the way I feel just on materna prenatal vitamins how the hell am I going to feel when I am pregnant? HELP!!
