Q: Long Term Side Effects of the Pill- Is It Dangerous?

Does anybody know the long term effects of birth control? does it complicate pregnancy later in life when you're not on it any more? will it effect future children??? i've heard horror stories as well as ones about how amazing the pill is... can't seem to get any objective stances.

Normally, there are no bad long-term affects of birth control. Depo tends to lessen calcium so women on it need to take supplements. Aside from that, birth control is virtually harmless.

really? A girl my mom knew got blood clots or something like that all over her lungs and almost died... so it probably effects people in different ways? maybe she was allergic to something in or something...

Ah, I forgot about clots. Yes, a few types of pills and the patch can cause increased clotting, so you absolutely MUST NOT SMOKE when using them.
