Unusual Premature Ejaculation Question

Hello all. Recently a long time friend of mine revealed to me some rather unusual information regarding her husband. For about the last 14 years, he has suffered from PE. Sometimes so bad that he would ejaculate before penetration. Now the unusual part is it stopped, suddenly, about a month ago. He now shows no signs of the problem at all, without any medical treatments or visible effort on his part to stop/cure it.

She has been suspicious of his sexual activities as of late and she is wondering if it is possible this could be the result of him having sexual relations outside of their marriage. They have been having problems with intimacy, affection and communication for several years now, so this is also why she might be thinking in this direction.

Let me add that they are in their early 40's if that is of any consequence.
