For.

Gay people should be allowed to suffer as much as heterosexuals.

No, just kidding. Smile

I have never read or heard of a compelling argument to deny homosexual couples the "right" to marry.

I have no reason to think that homosexual relationships are any less valid than heterosexual ones.

I have no reason to deny homosexual couples the benefits that go along with the marriage license.

I personally know many homosexual couples and find that this discrimination against them is hurtful to them.

Homosexuals are equal to heterosexuals and therefore should have the exact same rights.

I am FOR gay marriages.

They should have the same rights as a heterosexual couple and that includes the debt of marriage.

Thank you all for your replys.

I think that women are more open to this than men. Its funny because as women we are encouraged to be attracted to other women and lesbians are nearly fully accpepted by society. But men are so different. Other men seem to look down on gay men and they are quick to defend their own sexuality. If you saw two women making out most would stop and stare or at least look a few times, but if you walked by two men kissing then people tend to look down in shame. its a double standard. It isnt fair.

I would like to know how men feel.

"Homosexuals are equal to heterosexuals and therefore should have the exact same rights. "

Yes the right to marry a person of the opposite sex!

I am opposed to homosexual marriage, I believe it deminishes the value and importance of the sacred marrige bond, the importance for both male and female parents for the rasing of children which is the only real reason for marriage to take place

Yeah because from what I have seen lately. Heterosexuals are really doing a fine job of preserving the values and sacredness of marriage.

Again, I have seen a lot of right wing politicians slam gay marriage on that basis and then get caught cheating on their spouse. I'm not saying it is only right wingers, but if you're going to slam someone for it. Do as you say.

I find it ironic that gay people are good enough to have to pay the same taxes, but not have the the same rights.

In what way does it diminish the value and importance of the marriage bond???

Are same-sex relationships somehow less valuable?

Do you think that same-sex partners take their commitment to eachother any less seriously than opposite-sex partners?

Obviously you seem to think that same-sex partners are somehow less capable of raising children. How so?

Raising children is the only reason for marriage to take place? I suppose barren women just shouldn't bother getting married then? Should men have their sperm count measured to make sure they're fertile before they be allowed to marry? I guess people who just don't want kids should never marry and of course be celibate?

I'm sure guest won't even respond to these questions.

For the OP, I am PRO same-sex marriage rights and am proud to live in a province where those rights are recognized.

Guest is entitled to his/her opinion. Stop slamming him/her.

I agree with guest. I am against it.
I am a christian and believe what the bible says.

Although I am sure I will get slammed as well as most here are progressive liberals.

You are absolutely right milletics. I respect your beleifs, just like I respect people who are for gay marriage. I am for it. but I do not agree with the violence and meaness between the two sides. Why cant we all just get along? I am not talking about this forum but the world in general. Everyone has the right to beleive and feel what ever way they please. No one should be critisized for there right as a human being whether its about religious beleifs or sexual preferences..

cant help who you fall in love with
these christians controdict themselves when they are against something like gay marriage. doesnt "god" say treat thy neighbor like you want to be treated? how would you like it if they had the right to take YOUR freedom of happiness and love away?
and god loves everyone equally right?
so he should love gay couples just as much as regular couples

let these people be happy and stay out of their buisness.

The "sanctity of marriage" died with drive-thru weddings in Vegas.

Personally, I think it is no one's business who people want to marry. Gay, straight, whatever-they're the ones that have to spend the rest of their lives with these people.
What does it matter if 2 men or 2 women want to get married? I just don't see what the big deal is.
Why should I care about who John Doe over in San Francisco wants to marry???
It doesn't concern anyone, so people should mind their own business.

I think it should be fine for people to marry whoever they want!

Hi Rosie,

I have nothing against gay marriages. I was raised to be open-minded even though I lived in a very conservative area. I believe everyone, no matter what their sexual preference, has the right to find love and happiness. They should also be allowed the same rights as hetero marriages.

I don't think anyone's private sexual activity should be monitored by the government and I regard sexual preference as a private choice, and should not be subject to religious persecution either.

We are born, we have but one life to live and we have the choice of how to live that life until we die. Freedom of choice....I feel you should be able to be with whomever you want.......male, female, race, creed.....its no ones business. I feel if two people love each other and want to be together.....then let it be and I wish them all the happiness in the world. Who are we to judge or cast judgement?????? Not in this lifetime! The world is a different place and nothing is sacred anymore.........if two people take vows, then thats enough for me....................Have a great life with whomever you please!

I am supportive of homosexual marriage. I did, however vote against "civil unions" in the last election in my state. the reason is becuase it seemed to be a "seperate but equal, you use that drinking fountain over there" type of thing. I think that if Gay marriage were allowed just as hetero marriage, people might be better able to see homosexual unions as just as worthy as the marriage unions we have now. I wonder if this were allowed if some of the negative sterotypes surrounding gay "behavior" as being promiscuous would begin to lessen. Furthermore, as we live in a country which promotes "freedom of religion" I tend to frown upon imposing religious views on the populace as a whole. While I value the individual lives of those who chose to live within the confines and constructs of a particular religion, I have a problem when those views are pushed onto others.

I am for gay marriage. I just think that if there is a god, he must appreciate true love and be in full support of it.

Gay people deserve to fall in love with whoever they want to, and to marry the person they have fallen in love with. Why? Because true love deserves to be honored. We don't choose who we love.

I think its the closet homosexuals that cause all the problems for the outted homosexuals. (ie. senator craig). I encourage and endorse homosexuality between men and the reason i say this, is because theres more women to go around for me and my fellow heterosexual men, we dont care what 2 guys do together as long as its not with me. Also marriage should be between 2 people who love each other and the government shouldnt interfere with civil matters.
