Can I Skip One Period Using a Mono Pill On the First Pack? Posted: 09-24-07 08:35am
hi, Please read whole post
I dont use the pill for pregnancy
protection.(I used to). My hubby had a
vasectomy and I want to use them only to
skip a period. I was off the pill for over
a year. I am now(just started) on ortho
cyclen(not tricyclen) The pill I am on is
a monophasil pill. I have a anniversary
vacation trip planned for my husband and
me. It cannot be arranged any other time
because of fall break and our schedules. I
want this to be a romantic trip( 10 year
anniversary) I dont want to be on my
period.
I have used this pill in the past with no
problems. I just started the pill again
with this first pack on September 9th. I
have had breakthrough bleeding every day,
nearly as bad as a period(mine are light).
I am on my third week of pills(2nd day
week 3) Here is my question:
Can I successfully skip my period by going
into the next(2nd ) pack if I am only on
my first pack ? I know it is better to
have started months ago, but I didnt know
about the plans. My period was naturally
supposed to start the week of my
trip(should start on Oct 5th naturally,
trip is starting on the 7th.
I never had breakthrough bleeding last
time I took this pill, even when I first
started it.
Should I - A)truck on through and hope
that by the time I skip the placebos , the
bleeding wil subside?
or
B) stop the pill abrubtly now
(4 days before the placebo) and hope it
induces an early period , well before my
trip starts??
Even if I went with option B, would this
be my real period, or just withdrawal
bleeding, followed by a real period?
Please- No answers saying talk to your dr.
If I had time to do that , I would not be
on here. I cannot get in by the time I
need to.Also, please no "other ways to be
intimate" answers. Any real help will be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much

It's really tough to say what will happen,
I'm sorry :/ But every single woman is
different, so her reaction to the pills
and skipping a period is on a case-by-case
basis.

Yeah. I'd keep taking them and just see
what happens.
