Q: Very Sticky Subject - Self diagnosing is wrong !

I have read almost all the posts on this board and have replied to those I thought needed the support the most. There are certain symptoms that I do not feel comfortalbe hearing. And with our doctor off line makes it worse. So, here I. Tryin to guide and support those in need,
What I am seeing is not a good thing, In fact, it could be a differnece between feeling better or not taking your meds or taking to much.
I see some of you are self diagnosing yourselves (not good) not taking the med's your doctor has given you. The self diagnosing is what scares me the most. You are putting a bandaid over what could possible be something very serious and maybe not. Trust in your doctors. And if you do'nt like the way they are treating you, you have the right to a second opinion. I kow from experience cause I have been there. I knew everything that was wrong with me and had all the answers. Who need a docor. LOL I did! So listen to your body and do'nt take any new symptoms lightly. Go get them checked out.
Sorry for the long winded post, just felt conpeled to post this. As I said, I am not a doctor but know more then some. Enough to know when I see a red light go on.

Be careful gang, please. You are playing with fire.

Hugs,
MsSky

mediactions and doctors are certainly not for everyone

some of them are quacks and all they want is money
some doctors only end up makeing people worse

That is my point the_girlfreind. You are so right. But, on the other hand, there are those out there with compasion and care about your health. I know because I just fired my neurologist and tomorrow morning will be looking for a new one. He did not even have time to set down and explain my test results. I had to fax him an agressive letter and he called me right back, and he went right over my results on the phone. He has to much on his plate to handle. To many patient to be able to sit down and give quality time to his patients. My point exactly. You have the freedom to choose another doctor you feel comfortalbe with.

I Hear That
the_girlfreind You could not be more right. As a matter of fact I am such an advocate on health care reform, that I am like so over it and I really go off the deep end with the subject, so I zipper my mouth. I have been there for almost 2 years and it ain't fun. LOL I wish someone would take my mail box away! My sense of humor (which I still have) is showing. Laughing

OK, back on subject:
I truly undestand where you are coming from. But for you and others alike, there is still help out there. I read you post and I know your condition. I don't say this a lot, but I have also been there. Again, I will stress, no one, and I mean no one, should be without the help they need. That they have to go so far as to think what might be wrong with them and go on that assumption, that could be one day a very serious illness if not caught in time, and have to go untreated.
Let me tell you a secret. I right now am owned by the government as far as health care goes. There are resources out there for you and others. You and most on this forum are still so very young and have a lifetime ahead of you. I know I would like to see it a healthy one. Believe me, I am not one that is a snouty rich kid (now lady) that has had it good all her life. Depression, anxiety and panic have been my best friend most of my life. Even in childhood. Feeling unexcepted in school right down to being where you are right now. Yes, your condition right now. Been there, done that. I got through it.
I just want to say that don't let something as bad is this disorder or anything else for that matter that could be a sign of something that may get worse go untreated when there is help out there.
Alwys remember, I am with ya and not agenst ya. Wink And yes, this place is wonderful to come for help. And there is a doctor here that also can give you some insight on what you may need to look into. I agree 100%. Especially those of us with an illness or disorder, need a place where we can interact and vent our fears. I find forums to be a large contributor in my own well being. Almost like group theorpy. It is good to at least to have cyber friend that can help you through some hard times. That is what I am doing here. I am also over on the mutiple sclorosis side of the board, just being dignosed three days ago with it. So you can see, I to need this site. I need help, input and to learn more about the disease.
Just want to let you know girl that you are not alone in this.

You are in my thoughts,

Hugs,
MsSky

BTW: Is that you in your avatar? If so, I thought I was looking in a mirror back to when I was your age. We could have passed for twins girl. No lie. Now that is so scary to see yourself in someone else. What did they do? Clone me? Laughing
