How Can I Help My Friend?? Posted: 09-23-07 20:39pm
I think my friend has developed an eating
disorder....she's staying with me for 2
months while her parents go
away.........It's now been 2weeks since
she's been here. She's a heavy girl and
i've noticed she almost never eats....and
wen she does eat she eats one thing and
then goes to make herself throw up!! I
really wanna help her...but i dont no what
to tell her. I know why she's doing
it..........she told me she's sick of
being called fat..she's sick of always
being the "big girl" so she came up with
this solution....I didn't and still dont
no wat to tell her..........any advice??

tell her she could make herself sick and
ill if she doesnt stop
she really could
you need to help her
because if anything bad happens because of
her disorder you would feel like crap for
not saying anything
I've been telling her that.........but all
she has on her mind is Losing weight. She
doesn't seem to care about the
consequences.

Gosh, it's so sad to me to hear about
this. I grew up dancing and so I had
friends who were bulimic and anorexic.
Make sure she feels that you are not
attacking her and you are on her side to
help her. Try exercising with her, eating
a healthy diet with her, etc. Also,
mention to her that throwing up will wear
away the enamel on her teeth as well as
destroy her esophagus! There are healthy
ways to lose weight, but you have to be
patient. You don't gain 50 pounds in a
month, so you won't lose 50 pounds in a
month. Hope this helps!
