Q: critical times to have sex after the IUI to max my chances!

Hi, Well, here I am searching for infertility forums to feed my brain. I honestly did not think I would be on here so soon. I just had my first IUI Sept 13th. I have already tested myself twice, both negative. It has been 10 days. Is this too soon to test? Is it possible that these are false negatives? The nurse told me not to test due to fact the progesterone gel would trick the test reading false positive.

Also, Should my husband & I have been having sex every other day since the IUI? I feel I messed up by not having intercourse after I started the progesterone gel. That was last Sunday the 16th. I am very confused, how can I maximize my chances? I need someone to tell me the critical times to have sex after the IUI.

Please help. Lisa Sad

10 days is still kinda early. I don't think it's the progesterone gel that would give you a false positive...I've read and been told by my doctor that it's the HCG trigger that would do that. I've also read it's out of your system 10-12 days after. It's out if you've gotten 2 negatives already. I believe that the pregesterone gel will keep you from getting a period though. As far as maximizing your chances--I've heard you should be having sex BEFORE more so than after the iui. Have researched that the key is having the sperm "waiting" for the egg. Good luck!

Thank You...
Well, I'm definitely not pregnant. My ovaries have alot of cysts on them so I was instructed to get on BC & wait until they dissappear befoer we can do another cycle. Thank you for your help!

How disapointing. Im sorry that you have to get on BC. That just sucks. I hope that the cysts go away soon and you get your bfp soon.
