I am a 34 year old woman who has suffered from night terrors all my life. I'm married and still afraid of the dark. I think I think I see writing and images on the wall at night. I can't even sleep by myself during the daytime. During my early 20's, I lived alone. I would wake up during the middle of the night and scream or run outside the front door of my apartment. I am too embarrassed to share this information with my friends. When I'm in the room alone, dosing off, it appears as if the Television is talking to me. I know that sounds crazy. When I acknowledge that the TV is talking to me, advising me to do terrible things, I suddenly would run out the room? Do I need Medication? I am tired of living like this. I've have been like this all my life.

Some schizophrenics experience the TV talking to them. I don't know about the rest, see a doctor.

i think being scared of the dark is very common, i hate the dark. I saw Exorcism of Emily Rose and every night for like couple of weeks i wud wake up at 3 am just like the girl in the movie. So i know how u feel. When i was on vacation we were in a hotel and like i had to sleep alone in the room and at night i wud have horrible nightmares so liek one night i had to go sleep with my mom cause i was so scared.
But the TV talking to is not good, you should go see a doctor, definetly.
Good luck.

You were scared of the exorcism of emily rose! I suggest you do not see the original exorcist or go to a cabin in the woods and see the blair witch project!

Its Okay
The line between schizophrenia and cautiousness can be hard to draw. This is my definition. Schizophrenia is when your fears are irrational and/or start paralyzing your life. Cautiousness does not do the 2 above things. Your symptoms aren't that unusual. I'm a little paranoid too, I check under the bed and tables for lost papers, I sometimes want to jump and scream during class, I sometimes want to run away from school while in class, I used to be afraid of aliens, etc. Just see a doctor and work out a step by step plan to build up your trust of the world.

This somewhat happens to me also, the whole tv talking to me thing.
But It isn't that it talks to me, it's that I'll be thinking or saying something or reflecting on something and then something that happens or something that is said coincides with what I'm thinking or saying. Ya know, like some simpsons crap. You get what I'm saying?

Just say that I'll be thinking that "war sucks, i wish that would stop", then all of a sudden the news channel comes up and says "war creates jobs for a bunch of poor people".

Or I'll be thinking about something, and on the radio or on the t.v. somebody will literally say "that's true", and it's as if it was said directly to me. I know it's a coincidence, but what is up with "coincidence", what a screwed up world.

This is absolutely the strangest desease on the face of the earth.

Blondie has that time thing also?
Does anybody else experience strange "coincidences" with the clocks on this planet? Like to often.

I did that to, when I have my episodes especially, everytime I felt like I wanted to look at the clock, it was the same time, for weeks on end. It's funny, because I would never want to look at the clock until it was that certain time. I think that it was 3:00, either a.m. or p.m., it didn't matter.

Now, the only time I look at the clock, almost all of the time, it's 11:11, 2:22, 3:33, 4:44, 10:10, you get the picture. I freaking hate it, I just wanted a beer for crying out loud.

And I actually saw some theories on this happening at sacredmagick.com.
These people say that it is a calling of some cosmic sort or something like that. That if you see 11:11 all of the time, it is a calling for you to do good positive things, ya know, join that breed. Look it up. It's probably on there somewhere.

The coincidences are called "synchronicity". I hate it, it's annoying. My worst and longest case of synchronicity was during my psychotic episode. It was a bad trip - I felt my mind was being copied onto my Father's mind, who was presented as a monster, and then on the radio a program came on about cloning and copying. It lasted a very long time and I couldn't do anything. Then I was visiting at my mother's and there was a TV program about operations on the brain or something like that and my mother was setting the bed for me, just like the bed in the TV. I didn't want to sleep on that bed that night, I stayed on the couch, I was totally paranoid.

Hey MMAFighter, I saw your post and just wanted to comment that schizophrenia is not just when your fears are irrational and/or start paralyzing your life.

Schizophrenia is a disease just like cancer is. It is chemical/biological disease.

I just felt that you post sorta lead to this idea that it's something you could 'control' or 'help', which is inaccurate.

It's called compulsive lying and is a psychiatric condition. You can see your doctor about therapy.
